Comic accents/ pronunciations:

We all know of Peter Sellers films and many other films, where comedy is created by funny/ outrageous pronunciations and accents. For example: Peter Sellers’ Minky instead of Monkey and other comic accent in The Party.

Often, we see similar accents/ pronunciations on TV. Many a times, Indian words are pronounced funnily by western media or western brought up Indian origin TV broadcasters. Many will recall TV ads pronouncing phone # with lots of 4s (fours) as Phor Phor Phor Phor.

Another one I heard this past weekend and can’t stop laughing. On Omni TV Bollywood Blvd, they pronounced Rahul Bose as REHOOL BOSAY, quite a few times.

I’m sure, if we compile a list of funny pronunciations, that we come across often, of Indian words by westerners and western raised Indian broadcasters, it will be interesting. Who knows, a few such pronunciations may end up in some Indian comedy film one day.

hey rana don't u think its pathetic that these stupid studios can't find any indians who can pronounce the names right??

I mean that melissa girl is very hot, but she can't pronounce the names correctly at all. How the hell did she end up hosting a bollywood show??? :bangbang: :nopity: :oo: :baaa:

both meliissa and adnan have pathetic pronounciations... she always calls madhuri madhoori and what not... one host who has good hindi and english pronunciation is geetika who hosts the badahi ho show.....but i guess they want bollywood blvd to appeal to the youth.....

Both of them have some serious issues....be it Melissa, giving new meaning to the term 'indian blonde'....with her on the show, I actually dont mind Adnan, since he's not quite as annoying as her.

ANYBODY can do a better job than them!!

Let's keek these funny/ outrageous accents and pronunciations coming as we hear them. I'm sure it will provide enough masala for comic situations in films.

how funny it is when a westerner try your pronunciations? hilarious isn't it. lets put the foot is on the other shoe how do you think you guys sound to us when you speak english? :p :baaa: not so funny now :p

LOL shoe doesnt fit on the other shoe clipper!!

i know alot of asians that speak perfect english....its easy for ppl to speak english clearly....but its not as easy when a westerner tries to speak hindi...which is why it is funny clipper lol..

I agree w/ Clipper.. but forget all of that for a sec

Just being a television host is quite a job in it self and requires considerable skill. So mispronunciations occur once in a while (which btw are in a language other than that of the show). I watch BB regularly and think they do a fine job.
