I just saw a song from 'Pyar Tune Kya Kiya' the other day - I think it was called 'Khambakth Ishq', and was very suprised at how well Urmila performed (its a ripoff of Madonna's 'Human Nature' Video). She probably has more stellar performances than any other Bollywood heroine and yet she is overlooked. Wonder why this is!! Here are some great Urmila performances that I think put her in the league of a Sridevi or Madhuri instantly. What do you think?

She was so charming and cute in Rangeela. I think she proves she can act in Kaun and Bhoot. She is definately on a higher pedistal than Kareena, Amisha etc.

probably because many don't think she's good-looking.

I really can't stand Urmila! I find her extremy annoying! She's not good looking and is a little too petite. I don't think she's much of an actress and while she has given some average to good performances (Kaun, Satya), I can't forget her terrible performance in Aflatoon (especially that corny rap "touch me baby, I'm on fire").

Her best role was probably Masoom.

hahaha....amen to that....and also her role in KALYUG...she made a convincing son !!!

personally Urmila is not very talented...she's merely oomph and nothing much else...a bit like Marilyn Monroe if such a comparision be allowed.....I think she botched up her role in KAUN big time....and in BHOOT she was simply tolerable....In RANGEELA she had an author backed role that made her look good, she did not really 'perform'....but she can do one thing well...and that is ooze sexiness and full marks towards that :cool:

As far as putting her in the same league as Sridevi and Dixie, sure they are perhaps all the same league cause I dont think too highly of them either.....Sridevi is great at comedy (CHAALBAAZ) but goes crazy with the emotional roles (SADMA).....Dixie is the best of the three (comparitively) for she has performed (TEZAAB though noted for the Ekm Do Teen number, she has actually put in her effort at the emotional scenes/PUKAAR) at times.

But this is all my 2 cents worth.....I know there are fans out there that would give their all for them....not me !

btw..all actrors, have to work in crap films, with crap roles, urmila is no exception..but girl has talent!

well acting wise i liked her in Bhoot, Kaun & Pyar Tune Kya Kiya among her recent releases. haven't seen Pinjar as yet. either way i think she is damn sexy! :p

hahah, yea she is a babe, but i think her...

best performances have been:
rangeela, bhoot, pinjar, pyaar tune kya kiya, and judaai....oo not to mention chamma chamma. haha

her good performances have been:
jungle, om jai jagdish (she was the one good thing bout that movie), kaun, and mast

her alright ones have been:
Deewange, deewane

I haven't seen kunwara (and don't hope to) and haven't unfortunatly seen satya yet. its next on my list.

but i have to say, urmila is one GREAT actress. I think she's currently the best we have...aishwarya's presence is extrordinary and she has great talent (i haven't yet seeen chokher bali, which i hear she gives a great performance)....rani is alright, she was good in chalte chalte but she hasn't yet had any role with substance...preity would be in the same category...but urmila i think stands in the stand with actresses like madhuri, tabu, and manisha koirala (yes, she has had her bad times, but her performances in dil se, bombay, 1942 a love story, and khamoshi are UNFORGETABLE). urmila's had her share of item numbers, govinda (sucks) flicks, timepass movies, and now she's hittin the hard ball, and she's hittin it well. I can't wait till tehzeeb on the 5th of dec and ek hasina thi which releases next year (rgv says its her best performance yet!). she's the girl of 2003 for sure. urmi...we love you. =D
