Could someone assist me in identifying the artistes and/or albums of the following background songs in Pakeezah (1971):

Scene: Shahaab takes Nargis from the ‘kotha’ in a lonely dark night

Maut Bhi Ulfat Mein Dhal Kar Rah Gayi
Aakhri Soorat Nikal Kar Rah Gayi

Thanks Vijay - I have this CD. It appears the Bandhan Bandho Re raag is in it, but not the other two.

Dekh To Dil Ke Jaan Se Uthta Hai is a popular Mehdi Hassan ghazal, based on Mir's poetry. But in Pakeezah there is a female vocalist... Who could it be?

Out of interest, the listing you have provided has a dance version of Chalo Dildaar Chalo sang as a solo by Lata Mangeshkar. Worth a listen!!

Guys - I too have tried to obtain the background score to the film Pakeezah - and tried numerous placed - but failed...! The only this they could offer was different versions of the soundtrack the film. The one i found which had the full song list listed is EMI/HMV.

Wasn't the CD version under the Classic Films banner or something? It has most, if not all, of the songs from the Rang Birang LP.

I had come across an LP many years ago that had background instrumental music from Pakeezah (not the easily available Title Music - Alaap). With regard to tracks from RANG BIRANG, these are available but were not used in the film, not even as background songs. Hence, the CLASSIC FILMS - PAKEEZAH CD does not incorporate the songs I am referring to.

Talking about Meena Kumari, there was once an album called MEENA KUMARI KI AMAR KAHANI released by Polydor. It was an abridged story with dialogues and songs from her films... Anyone heard of it? I am not referring to I WRITE I RECITE, which is a collection of poems by Meena Kumari.
