IS VIVEK LOSING MOVIES?

By Our Staff

In The News

The launch of Ajey Jhankar's 'The Invaders', to be directed by Hollywood director Roland Joffe, seems to be hanging fire. However, Jhankar insists that the film will take off very soon. Suresh Oberoi, father of Vivek Oberoi who was signed to play the lead role said, "They wasted all our dates till June 16, so I have now given the dates to Indra Kumar's 'Khujli'. If they want to do the film with Vivek, they will have to re-negotiate the dates with us."

Then how come Vivek has lost out a lot of other projects too? But Senior Oberoi says, "It is nothing but jealousy. Vivek has become a star overnight. His rivals envy him. Even about me there were people who scared away the producers saying that I am charging exorbitant price. Such things are bound to happen with Vivek as well."

When asked why Vivek has been replaced by Saif Ali Khan in Kunal Kohli's film for Yashraj banner, Suresh Oberoi says, "We want to work with Yashraj films and Subhash Ghai, but we had committed bulk dates to 'The Invaders' and Sameer Karnik this year, and therefore, couldn't really allot any dates to them," Suresh Oberoi explains.

About the Salman Khan incident, senior Oberoi has now changed his mind. "Somebody had to stand up against Salman Khan and I have taught my son to be fearless and he did exactly what he thought was right thing to do," Suresh Oberoi said.

Seems like he has just gained Bride and Prejudice so don't worry, he has a nice future ahead of him with the best lineup of films among the newcomers. With Hritik fading, Vivek and John Abraham (yet to see Sayaa though) seem to be the new contenders.

I would really like to keep Arjun in the running (was very impressed with his earlier films especially Moksha), but I've been sorely disappointed with his recent performances (DKR, DHT). Let's hope he improves.
