Was browsing the site after a long time, and noticed they do reviews of DVDs as well now.........

All DVDs are reviewed using the following equipment:

Sony 57 inch HDTV TV
JBL Speaker System
Panasonic Progressive-Scan DVD and DVD Audio Player
Panasonic DD and DTS receiver

Now what surprised me was their review of the Hero DVD by Video Sound.

Disk Details

Disk Name
The Hero

Region (1=US, 2=UK etc)
All Region

Picture Format (Widescreen, Standard, Anamorphic)
Anamporphic Widescreen

Disk Format (No of Side, No of Layers)
Dual layered

Audio Formats
Dolby Digital 5.1

Running Time
185 minutes

Subtitles
English

Disk Extras
The Making of The Hero

Director
Anil Sharma

Starring
Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Priyanka Chopra

Review

Video
Sharp with vibrant colors. 8 ½

Audio
Dynamic Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. The audio comes alive in the all action scenes.

The audio gets 9 ½

Extras
Nice extras, but the extras are not in widescreen format they are shown in full frame.

Overall
A very well done DVD by the Video Sound DVD team. The DVD could have been a little bit more sharper with the scenes that are shot in India.

Rating (between 1 and 10)
9

I don't remember anyone thinking the DVD was this good......I thought it was pretty much typical of new DVDs. Now is this DVD really as amazing as they say, or do they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about (and I sincerely think it is the latter, especially considering the comment about the extras).

OK, my doubt about them not having a clue is now confirmed.....check out these two reviews:

Disk Name
Mission Kashmir

Region (1=NTSC 2=PAL)
1 (The DVD is region one encoded)

Picture Format (Widescreen, Standard, Anamorphic)
Anamorphic Widescreen

Disk Format (No of Side, No of Layers)
Single sided dual layered

Audio Formats
English Dolby Digital 5.1 and Hindi Dolby Digital 5.1

Running Time
157

Subtitles
French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, and English Subtitles.

Disk Extras
Trailers to Lagaan, Mission Kashmir, Gandhi, and Lawrence of Arabia.

Director
Vinod Chopra

Starring
Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Puru Rajkumar, Sonali Kulkarni, Jackie Shroff, and Sunjay Dutt.

Review

Video
9.5 sharp colors and details

Audio
9.5 dynamic Dolby digital 5.1

Extras
7 DVD lacks extras from the movie

Overall
A great high quality DVD produced by Columbia Tri-Star and Destination Films. The only major set back to this DVD is that there is no song menu so one cannot select a song. Instead one has to scan the chapters and find the songs. One thing Columbia Tri-Star must start doing is making a song menu when they produce Indian DVDs.

Rating (between 1 and 10)
9 out 10

Disk Name
Saathiya

Region (1=US, 2=UK etc)
All region

Picture Format (Widescreen, Standard, Anamorphic)

Review

Video
9 the video is very sharp with a lot of detail and vibrant colours. There are a few blemishes that occur on video and a few very small lines that come on the print from time to time

Audio
9 ½ dynamic 5.1 audio

Extras
The disc has some extras from the movie.

Overall
A very well done DVD by Prasad Video Digital and Yash Raj Films.

Rating (between 1 and 10)
9 ½

So Saathiya is a better DVD than Mission Kashmir...........
