When Abhishek Bachchan, son of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, joined the Hindi film industry in 2000, people anticipated the arrival of another superstar.

But hopes were dashed as his debut film -- J P Dutta's Refugee -- fared miserably. The films that followed -- Tera Jadoo Chal Gayaa, Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai, Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke, Shararat and Haan... Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya -- fared no better.

The industry was quick to write him off, though some people remembered that his father too had had numerous flops before striking back.

"I disagree with people who say I was good, but my films were bad," says Abhishek. "If I was good, the films should have done well. I think people are just being nice to me on my face."

With his latest film, Sooraj Barjatya's Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, also starring Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor, releasing today, Friday, June 27, Abhishek Bachchan has his fingers crossed. This, after all, could be his make-or-break film.................

Actually, let's face it - it's not so much the acting. The Indian audience in general looks out for stars, not actors. Whether Abhishek is able to act or not is besides the point. For some reason, a certain star, Salman Khan comes to mind.

You mean a propensity to strip, baldness, drinking problem, or mental disabilities. Yeah, Abhishek doesn't seem to have those, yet at least :D .

Damn it malfunxion, I dont deny those, bhaiya..those are his PERSONAL KARMA!!

But..He does have FEW/More SUPER HITS on his credit/name..

You got that right........

Sure, Salman Khan has had some superhits.....but I don't think many of his films were succesful because of him. He has the same old routine in every movie......and somehow I get the feeling Tere Naam is gonna be an unintentional comedy.

I think..RAJSHRI had him, quite RESTRAINED in their films..imho..

One movie, that was not BIG WIGs that I liked of Salman was JPKHH!!

BTW!! TERA NAAM audio is out, by HIMESH RESHMIYA..Did u listen?

Quite PEPPY!!

I have not seen or know about SETHU..this movie is based upon..so dont know whether this music will work or not?

He's been restrained in quite a few of his movies......Karan Arjun, Veergati......but it didnt really lead to a good performance (and he couldn't get through the movie without taking his shirt off).

Yes, just like Fardeen is the cocaine addict trendsetter. Let's see who follows him.

Come on Arsh, you don't just take of your shirt and become a trendsetter. You just do it once you figure out that you can't act if your life depends on it and the only way to survive is to show that drug-infused body.

And as Bhaskar pointed out, how many of Salman's hits would you actually give him credit for? Salman is just the perfect example of the guy who happened to be at the right place at the right time, with the romance and Khan movement. In terms of acting skills, it wouldn't be a reach to say Abhishek is actually better than Salman.

And I won't even comment on the bikini shorts, that belongs in the disturbing movies you've seen post. Also remember this concert when Nangu stripped to his underwear and even proceeded to take that off. Fortunately for my eyes, the organizers turned off the lights in time.

Hrithik is now going for a Topless look in his photo shots!!, i hope he doesent sink down to Salmans level and start using his body to get more films and attention, he is much more capable!!!

Yaar!! I am no SALLU FAN!!

I never liked his IDIOTIC APPEARANCES..

BUT HITS are HITS!! man!! Whether it is Mohabtaen, K3G, HAHK, HDDCS, Taal, Devdas or HSSH, or Recent CHALTE CHALTE...

Tell, me WHOM you will be CREDITING to those? Poo? etc etc..

Besides ALL HIS RECENT FLOPS, IMHO, ANIL KAPOOR is a GOOD ACTOR and a GOOD GUY? too? I dont know?

Besides his RECENT FLOPS, IMHO, AB jr. is STILL NOT A GOOD ACTOR!! period! He COULD NEVER EVEN CARRY HIM SELF WELL FOR A FILM, HOW HE CAN CARRY A FILM ON HIMSELF?

HE BLEW BIG TIME with TJCG and REST is HISTORY now! :baaa: :nopity:

If MPKHD is CLICKED overseas? Is it BECAUSE of ABHISHEK? I dont think so? He just HAPPENED to be IN IT..

If LOC will make it? Will it be DUE TO ABHISHEK/? I DONT THINK SO!

If KNK..FLOPS..WILL IT BE DUE TO ABHISHEK? Yes indeed!!
