Very often in the film industry, any film that makes more noise even before it takes off lands itself in trouble. There have been cases galore when a much-hyped project has been nipped in the bud or could not make much headway after its launch. One such maker is Subhash Ghai who had more than a decade ago had launched a film called 'Devaa'. The film had the magical combination of the then superstar Amitabh Bachchan and the maverick filmmaker Subhash Ghai coming together for the first time but the dream project went kaput and 'Devaa' was shelved soon after its grand launching.
More then a decade later Subhash Ghai decided to do another project with Amitabh Bachchan. So, obviously when Subhash Ghai announced his new film 'Homeland' sometime back, it was the talk of the town. And why not? Because apart from Amitabh Bachchan, it had the most impressive array of stars lined up - Dilip Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshaye Khanna and Preity Zinta. But now, news is that the film has been shelved. Just the fact that Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan would be on screen together for the first time was enough for 'Homeland' to become the hottest film of the year. And then, it was to be directed by none other than the industry's showman Subhash Ghai himself.
But the filmmaker had problems galore right from the day of the announcement itself. The project kept getting delayed primarily because of Shah Rukh Khan's health problem. Shah Rukh has been advised complete rest after his recent back surgery for at least three months. Following that, the Khan will have to complete his earlier lot of films - which include Farah Khan's 'Main Hoon Na' and Karan Johar's home production. 'Homeland' would have to wait for a long time.

And it seems Shah Rukh told him that he would not be able to give dates for the film at least until early next year. Ghai was willing to wait for that long before the problems with his other stars cropped up. Amitabh got out of the project saying that he didn't have dates to spare in the revised schedule. Nor did Preity Zinta. Finally, out of sheer frustration, Ghai is reported to have shelved the film. According to inside sources, he will now work on a new subject with different stars. But the filmmaker isn't willing to give any comments right now.

A full-page advertisement in a national daily marked the announcement of the film. Anil Kapoor went on record to say that it was his most challenging role so far. But now, everyone's discussing what exactly went wrong with Tutu Sharma's 'Allwyn Kalicharan', to be directed by Anurag Kashyap. The announcement took place more than two months back but there's no sign of the film going on floors. The question that everyone's now asking is - has the film been stalled?
click for larger view Some say that the producer Tutu Sharma is facing problems because two of his films are lying unsold - the Govinda-Preity starrer 'Khullam Khulla Pyar Karenge' and 'Paanch'. Others insist that Anil is reworking on certain parts of the script. And there are some who claim that after the disastrous fate of 'Armaan', financiers are not ready to back such an expensive Anil Kapoor-starrer. 'Allwyn Kalicharan' is a futuristic film based on a city that sleeps during the day and is awake in the night. Anil Kapoor plays the role of a cop in the movie. The people behind the venture specify that this is just a temporary delay and that shooting will commence soon. But now, with Anurag himself getting busy in a play and writing two more scripts for outside producers that seems like a distant possibility.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next magnum opus, 'Bajirao Mastani' has run into troubled waters, again. The film has been facing problems even before Bhansali could make an official announcement of the project. The latest rumours doing the rounds of Bollywood is that Kareena Kapoor has walked out of the movie. His first choice to play the female lead in the movie was Aishwariya Rai. Aishwariya too refused to do the role due to Salman Khan's involvement in the film. At this rate one would'nt be surprised if Bhansali decides to cast a newcomer opposite Salman Khan in the film. source:http://ww.smashits.com/index.cfm?Page=Reviews&Subpage=bigarticle&ID=2733
