Last week, I watched "Aah" (Raj Kapoor, Nargis) and observed that the song "Jaane Kahan Gaye Woh Din" from Mera Naam Joker was played as background music in movie "Aah".
Aah was released in 1953 whereas Mera Naam Joker was released in 1970.

Does anybody know any other songs which are played as background music in the earlier film/s and the song was inlcuded in the later movies?
(I need around 8-10 songs for 1 hour radio program for my friend).

Well Fast Forward Back.... and u will find the same song theme, used by Shankar Jaikishen in Barsaat ( which was released before Aah)... The song in Mera Naam Joker cannot really be called an adaptation of the song....
If you want a near perfect adaptation of the song... then u should zoom into the 1990's
when the song was remade as
Hamesh Hamesha tu mujhme rahega, kahan , yahan yahan yahan,
Hum aur tum uspe yeh sama ! (Hamesha, .. Saif Ali Khan, Kajol)...

I can think of one more instance....
Saagar, when Rishi Kapoor sees Dimple for the first time.. There is a tune humming in the background (RD Burman's vocals of cos)....
That tune was used as a song later on in
Aaja Meri Jaan ... ( S.P.Balasubramaniam & Anuradha Paudwal.. Music Amar-Utpal)

One more instance...again RD Burman
He had this title Tune in Heera Panna.... (humming by Annette Pinto)...
He later used the same tune, in Heeralal Pannalal !
(Aaja Mere Pyar Aaaja dekh na aise tu sata, ab toh raha nahi jaaye...Hemant Kumar Mukherjee &
Kisne Dekha Hai kal, kisko kal ka pata aao dilwalo looto mathwalo, zindagi ka mazaa,,, aaja mere pyar aaja.. (RD Burman himself and Asha Bhonsle)....

Very funky songs !

One more trivia here folks...(deviation of cos)

I can think of 1 instance where the same theme music was used for the title track.. in the 2 films...

Zanjeer - Kalyanji - Anandji &
Khoon-Pasina - again Kalyanji Anandji

Thanks Sknath...

Can somebody confirm following four instances???

1. O Basanti Pawan Pagan (from Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai) played as background music in Awaara.
2. O Mere Sanam (from Sangam) played as background music in Shree 420.
3. Kabhi Mein Kahoon (from Lamhe) played as background music in Chandni.
4. Maiya Yashoda (from Hum Saath Saath Hai) played as background music in Hum Aapke Hai Koun.

Yes #1 & #3 I can confirm !.... Kabhi Main Kahoon ... was a very slow adaptation of the background theme from Chandni, which was quite fast and abrupt...

And O Basanti Pawan Paagal was also adpated from the theme in Awaara...

Why do I get the feeling that...
the opening jingles of "Meri Kismat mein tu nahi shaayad kyon tera intezar karta hoon main tujhe kal bhi pyar karta tha main tujhe ab bhi pyar karta hoon (Prem Rog")... was earlier used by L-P in one of their previous films ! No idea which one though !

Not sure about this one, but they were showing some clips from Khatta Meetha this weekend on Sony and the background theme sounded eerily similar to the Tanhai Tanhai song from Koyla.
