BOLLYWOOD TURNING INTO A WRITER'S GUILD

Bollywood seems to be bitten by the writing bug. Several actors, actresses and directors have shifted to writing. They love acting or directing films, but of late, get more satisfaction by writing. Mahesh Bhatt is a well-known director- turned-writer Anupam Kher is not far behind. He too spends his time more in writing these days. Among the leading ladies, Meghna Gulzar and Sushma Reddy have been putting their energy in writing scripts. Shekhar Suman who is noticed regularly on the small screen, besides doing some films, has engrossed himself in scripting his serial. Milind Soman is busy in his novel-fiction.
Mahesh Bhatt is currently working on 'Thus Far'. It is a memoir of fascinating memories. "No outsider can get the inside picture of the industry. Now I have eight films on the floor and I thought it was the right time to share my experiences with others". Bhatt has already written two books - 'Taste of Death' and 'UG Krishnamurthy' - A life'. Bhatt is also working on 'Bred In Hot Water'. This is a story based on his discussions with UG Krisnamurthy. Bhatt claims, "I think I am a better writer than a director."
Anupam Kher too is spending most of his time on putting his thoughts down on paper. 'Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai' is an account of my personal disasters. It is also being translated into English". Shekhar Suman is writing while putting together the script for his TV serial 'Main'. He began this as a hobby. Now it has been translated into 'Kuch Khwab Aise' - his first book of poetry.

However, supermodel Milind Soman plans to dot down facts. "A non-fiction novel is certainly on the cards next year," he claims. Female VJ-turned-actress Sushma Reddy is all set to become scriptwriter. Her mother Nikki Reddy says, "Sushma is working on two scripts which she is also keen to produce and direct." Another is 'Filhaal' director Meghna Gulzar who is working on her father's biography. Pooja Bedi will bring out her book on "everything related to pregnancy."
