Are Hindi filmstars losing their glitter? It does seem so, judging from the kind of response star-studded shows in the US are receiving. Inspite of stars like Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Sunjay Dutt, Salman Khan, Amisha Patel and Bipasha Basu, the shows have failed to rake in the moolah. On the other hand, singer Adnan Sami shows are going to packed houses. When asked, Adnan very diplomatically stated, “It is God’s grace that people have received my shows so well.”
It does look like the effect of the failure of films at the box-office has rubbed off on the popularity of these overseas shows. The general reaction is that the ticket prices of star-shows are much higher than the singer’s show. And in today’s times of shaky economies, nobody wants to go and see Salman Khan or Sunjay Dutt dancing on stage. Besides these heroes have limitations as a live performer unlike Shah Rukh Khan, who is still a major craze abroad. It may be recalled here that Shah Rukh had to come to the rescue of Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda on their Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan show. Apparently, the show wasn’t selling and the promoters had to send an SOS to SRK and the actor responded sportingly.
There was a time when Salman Khan used to be one of the biggest craze overseas, but bad press and a downslide in his career has taken a toll on his popularity. Suniel Shetty, one of the organisers of the US shows, does agree that the shows are getting a bad response, and that pricing of the tickets does matter today. “No one wants to come and see a song-and-dance show anymore, we will need to reformat our shows so that the audience come in to watch the stars,” he says.

Are you kidding... except for maybe Sanjay Dutt and Bobby Deol I won't even go to a theater to watch a movie starring these monkeys let alone go to a stage show!

I've never been to one of these shows (and don't plan to). What kind of stuff do they do?

They just make one grand entry .. dance to their songs and speak to the audience and shout out a few dialogues from their films.... and ofcourse in case of sallu/sanjay/arjun rampal take off their shirt .. sometimes they call audience members on stage as well.. it gets very boring .. once u seen one u see them all....

The Lagaan show was great!

I never wanted to see this show. The starcast doesn't appeal. I'm huge fans of Amisha, Bobby, Sunny, and Bipasha, but adding Sanjay and Salman doesn't click. The only reason why Sanjay worked in the Durban show, was because he has a huge fanbase in South Africa, and all the other stars.

I really do want to see Amisha perform though!

unfortunately show started late and asha refused to stay even a few minutes past the end so we were sukered by losing the time for the begining..
i refuse to go to another show...
