Just wondering how Bajirao Mastani is going to be without the two important stars of Sanjay L Bhansali. The pretty Aish and Ismail Darbar. Only time will tell.

As long as Salman is in the film it does not matter who else stars in it. Salman's presence guarantees the film will fail.

Confirmed: Darbar out, Rehman, in:

Bhansali opts for A R Rahman

Vickey Lalwani | May 13, 2003

After Ismail Darbar composed the highly popular music of Devdas, one expected director Sanjay Leela Bhansali to repeat him in his next venture, Bajirao Mastani. But that is not to be. Bhansali has signed ace music director A R Rahman instead.

Bajirao Mastani stars Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the title roles.

The film's second leading lady, however, is yet to be decided. Earlier rumours had hinted that Katrina Kaif, who is apparently seeing Salman, was to do the role. Now, however, the grapevine is buzzing about how Esha Deol has been approached to play Salman's wife in the film.

salman khan...i thought bhansali had more business/artistic sense than that. rahman and bhansali together is something to get excited about, but salman? and salman and kareena as a couple(i'm assuming)? bhansali and rahman have to do some real magic for this one to be any good.

Well, I am sure the 2 films would have been a lot better without Salman in them and probably would have done even better than they did at the box office.

IMHO, Bhansali is overrated. Khamoshi was wonderful but that was also partly due to excellent performances.

His other 2 movies, while being very classy, lacked acting. Salman for one in my opinion is not a good actor and nor is Aish (but she is so fine  ) although a she has made tremendous progress.

I just think if he casts good actors then his movies would be a lot better.

As far as Kareena and Salman :baaa:

I agree Khamoshi is SLB best work to date even though it wasnt a hit......... apart from mansiha and nana i think sima biswas did a great job as manisha's mother........
too bad he is now making movies more for commercial success and not from the heart......
HDDCS and Devdas were strictly average....

My opinion of Khamoshi, it was just average although it had so much potential. The performances of Manisha and to an extent by Nana Patekar were awesome but then you had Salman playing a bufoon as usual and spoiling things. But most importantly the poorly placed songs, although the music was outstanding, in the film just totally destroyed the film for me. Also the whole Helen character was so poorly defined that it was hard to make out what the hell was going on in the film at times. A good editor with a pair of scissors would in my opinion take this film from above average to really good.
