Sanjay Gupta is back! After an accident on December 27 last year, which almost cost his life, Gupta is back on his feet and planning new projects. “While I was recuperating, I felt I wouldn't be able to shoot for the next one year. But God has been kind to me,” the director of KAANTE tells me.

Not one to sit idle, Gupta is all geared up to start his next venture. This writer was the first to break the news of Gupta and his buddy Sanjay Dutt's first production KAANTE and here we are, breaking the news of Gupta and Dutt's next production, to be directed by Gupta again.

Gupta and Dutt's next venture under the banner of White Feather Films is titled MUSAFIR, the catchline being SEX, MURDER, BETRAYAL, EVERYTHING THAT MAKES LIFE WORTH LIVING. Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty, Mahesh Manjrekar and Priyanka Chopra will play lead roles in the film that's expected to be a thriller with a difference.

It's a known fact that Sanju and Anil didn't see eye to eye for various reasons. They have had irreconcilable differences and though there were offers to cast them together in various films, things just didn't materialise. But the duo will be seen together for the very first time in Gupta's new venture.

What's interesting is that all the characters in MUSAFIR, and that includes Priyanka as well, have grey shades. In fact, Priyanka is the “main negative factor” in the enterprise.

Scripted by Anurag Kashyap with music by Vishal-Shekhar [8 songs have already been recorded!], MUSAFIR will be shot in a single schedule in November and December this year, most probably in Goa.

Meanwhile, White Feather Films' under-production film PLAN, directed by Hriday Shetty, is being shot in a 15-day schedule, from April 23, in Mumbai. It stars Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, Dino Morea, Sanjay Suri, Bikram Saluja, Rohit Roy, Isha Koppikar, Riya Sen and Sanjay Mishra.

i thought it was good movie with some excellent performances and shot very stylishly...music background was played a bit too much though..

the reviews do have a point about style over substance...but thats mainly because the movie is shot so stylishly that its hard for the story to really come through...and really the story is pretty simple..but good thing is theres lots of twists in the tale...u feel sorry for anil after a while..coz he keeps losing the money lol..

some scenes are done really well..
*opening scene..with anil and sanjay..
*sameera and mahesh laying out the plan for anil..
*sanjay dutts first meeting with anil in the alley way..sanjay dutts presence can be heavily felt..becoz of the slick cinematography..

there are some really dopey moments like all bollywood movies...

Sanjay Dutt is the best...and Mahesh is Hilarious...Anil is good too..
out of the girls..Koena is hot especially in the Saaki song..but cant really act..Sameera is good..but seems awkward in some scenes..i dont really like Pancholi..

Mahesh and Sanjay have the best lines...they are so funny..especially Sanjays constant referencing to movies..(some of which are movies anil kapoor has acted in ironically)

they edited quite a bit..u could make out what some of the swear words were..but dammit ..they silenced it..

I watched this the other day. It was quite decent and not a scene by scene rip off U Turn as I expected (although wouldn't put it past Sunjay Gupta to copy scene by scene of other movies you are unaware of!). They were some good lines for Sunjay Dutt especially liked the references to old movies. Anil was good. Less said about the women cast the better. Aditya Pancholi looked menacing and was one of the triumph cards for the movie although a very small role. Mahesh Manjrekar was a funny as always, his lines seem to have been done to get a laughs out of the audience.

Core story although not original is good (at least you can credit Sanjay Gupta of copying some of best movies in Hollywood). Stylisation looks amateurish at places – seems draining life and colour out of some scenes is called style by Gupta and does it way too much.

Overall worth a watch 7/10

A few weeks back, I saw Baba to be Musafir theatrical ditributors, somewhere on the web. Later, couldn't find that link/ site again and hence never posted. I was hoping that Baba is for theatrical distribution only although it's logical for Baba to keep DVD rights as well.

May be, there still is a slight hope of a good DVD?? Recall Annand (or was it Bawarchi??) that initially was a Baba-DEI DVD.

You should see U-Turn, basically Musafir is made from that movie. I saw UTurn and you will feel very very sorry for that Guy whose role I guess anil kapoor is playing.

car broken, money lost, cop problem, lastly girlfriend (jennifer lopez/sameera reddy) ditches him, kicks his a** puts some bullets in him and brokes hit legs, teeth and lefts with money they stole from her husband.

And Still... that Guys stands up and smiles like he is lucky!

I'd recommend watching U Turn too, it's one of my fav movies. Sean Penn stars in the leading role and film was directed by Oliver Stone (JFK, Natural Born Killers, Platoon). One thing the Musafir shied away from was a making an ending that is consistence with how the characters are portrayed throughout the movie. U Turn pulls no punches with its ending and one of them 'WTF' or funniest (depending on how twisted you are  ) endings you've seen in a movie.
