Arsh bakwaas baat hai... Man I think TARAN (MORON) Adarsh needs a head checkup... He has forgotten this film hasnt yet penetrated into the interior regions of India which is where this will be appreciated... Nana Patekar's acting ..wah ! Lajawaab ( sans his foul mouthing females).. I agree Karishma's acting was fabulous.... and what a refreshing change it must have been from the Desi populace who had become engrossed with the cnadyfloos crap dished by Yashraj and his croonies :)

Truly funny, NOW certain people are questioning the validity of these "trade analyst", since its their genre of movies being dubbed a flop. I mean how could Shakti be a flop? Everyone is going to see it, right? Whats funny is how a movie like Mujhse Dosti Karoge (candyfloss) is a flop its first week, yet Shakti (movie of substance) is dubbed the same by the same people, and people question it? Come on people..... :bangbang:

Wedding makes big fat impression at UK box office

Robert Mitchell in London 24 September 2002

The UK box office continued to be dominated by Buena Vista International’s Signs last weekend but saw two high-profile entries vying for audience attention as My Big Fat Greek Wedding launched nationwide and Road To Perdition debuted in London.

Signs dropped off just 23% from its opening three-day weekend to take $4.1m (£2.65m) from 440 sites for a significant average of $9,375. Its 10-day total now stands at $12.5m (£8.1m).

20th Century Fox’s Road To Perdition took seventh position in the national chart after opening at 32 sites for a powerful opening of $398,188 (£256,035). The limited-release success bodes well for Sam Mendes’ drama when it goes wide next week.

However, Road To Perdition’s result of $293,885 (£188,968) from its 19 venues in London’s West End, while achieving a very strong average of $15,468, was unable able to match the $364,002 from 15 sites recorded by Signs in the West End last weekend. This weekend also saw My Big Fat Greek Wedding score a better West End average than that of Perdition with a $17,714 per site result from the $283,420 West End total at 16 venues.

Another inspired acquisition by Entertainment, My Big Fat Greek Wedding was the highest new opener of the week, landing second position with a stunning $2.3m (£1.5m) from 341 sites. Also making the top five was Icon Film Distribution’s Swimfan taking fourth place with $616,524 (£396,425). Playing at 324 locations the teen-thriller managed a so-so average of $1,903.

UIP’s The Bourne Identity dropped off just 22% from its previous weekend to take $1.3m (£856,800) from 404 sites and third place. BVI’s Insomnia also continued to show legs, falling only 21% from the previous weekend and rounding out the top five with $584,642 (£375,925) at 268 venues. Bourne Identity has a tally of $8.8m after three weeks, Insomnia $6.7m after four.

The only other opener to make the chart this week was Eros International’s 12th-placed Shakti – The Power. The Bollywood title took a strong $165,966 (£106,716) from 33 sites for an average of $5,029.
