This song was a big deal because this was a poem by the famous Urdu poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz. I'm wondering if, for a time, it was cut out of the film prints due to Faiz being Pakistani?

This reminds me of Dulhan Ek Raat Ki's 'Kabhi Aye Haqeeqat-E-Muntazar', which is a poem by Allama Iqbal, who also was a Pakistani. This song is available in the online uploads of the film, though.

I didn't know that - great info! (Also I sent an email to you a few weeks ago about a song from Chitralekha - not sure if you saw it)

Another forgotten film:
Joy Mukherjee's Humsaya.

Came across that peppy song 'Vo Haseen Dard De Do, Jise Main Gale Laga Lun - by Asha Bhosle' and wanted to watch that film again (Had watched it in 1968 at the time of its release. Did not find it in my DVDs list, and did not find any decent print on youtube either. Whatever is on youtube is badly butchered to the state that none of Sharmila Tagore (incorrectly I wrote Waheeda Rehman) (Co-heroin with Mala Sinha) scenes are in there, as if she is not part of the story. And, the print was worst possible I've seen on youtube.

It was not a bad film, I would say just like Mera Naam Joker, it flopped despite being a good film (may be it was below average). But still it had great music, nice story, big starcast, spy film on China-India. It's said that this film made Joy Mukherjee Bankrupt. But, I think, it was not this film that made Joy Mukherjee Bankrupt but his next film 'Kahin Aar Kahin Paar' that made him totally bankrupt ??

Looks like no one took care of this film as Joy Mukherjee went bankrupt. When I had watched this film, I liked it. Lots of footfalls but not enough to make it a hit, because of high cost of the film.

Any one remember this film or seen any good print.

Not sure if Waheeda Rahman was part of the cast, but it had Sharmila Tagore as the co-heroine for sure. There were reports of a huge physical fight between Mala Sinha and Sharmila Tagore, for unknown reasons. Only bad publicity surrounds the film.

I agree. The film is available on bad prints. However, here is a segment of the "Woh Haseen Dard De Do" song, which is of decent quality (though not encoded properly), seems to be of a broadcast from Zee Classic.

Colors are vibrant and pleasing - similar to the print of "Ishq Par Zor Nahi" that was once discussed on the forums.

Oops! How could I mix-up between Waheeda Rehman and Sharmila Tagore. I meant to say Sharmila Tagore.

Even in the bad prints that are available, I haven't found any Sharmila Tagore scenes. As far as I remember, Sharmila Tagore had equally big role as Mala Sinha and was the glamorous of the two.

Came across this haunting song from this film on youtube, for not such an old film but I guess, no print exists as mentioned in youtube poster.

A rare glimpse of the "Yeh Dil Aur Unki Nigaahon Ke Saaye" found on YouTube. Although its miniature and not clear at all, I would be delighted if it could be confirmed if this is actually part of the original film.

Leaving aside issue of good print:
Just a few days ago, I could not find Humsaya, on youtube, that's not heavily butchered in length. The most I could find was a 138 min. But, Yesterday an almost complete print showed up in 'Suggestions' in youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lx520Ed-YFw&t=6613s
(But it's 240 P only)
Film CC shows 5009 meters, that's 183 min.
This youtube version is 159 min and is at 25 fps, implying 165 min film length. And an excellent song 'Aaja Mere Pyar Ke Sahaare, Abhi Abhi' is missing/ alternate version (4 min 45 sec film time) but is available elsewhere in youtube. (Total avail = 169-170 min film time), There may be other additional footage too, in different sources).

1) Sharmila Tagore seems to have a bigger role but almost the same importance/ screen time.

2) So many excellent songs and music (O P Nayyar), I wonder why no one has picked on this film for rights.

3) Deserves a 4K posting on youtube or availability elsewhere.

4) Recall these songs or search for these:

- Woh Haseen Dard De Do, Jise Main Gale Laga Loon (Mala Sinha - Joy Mukherjee)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cpadpk2zFt0

- Aaja Mere Pyar Ke Sahaare, Abhi Abhi (Mala Sinha - Joy Mukherjee)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41z-4LEgRZ0

- Dil Ki Awaaz Bhi Sun (Joy Mukherjee dsinging for Sharmila Tagore)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNsPpeqO4BY

- A few other songs too.
