Gabbar Is Back held up well from Monday after a fair weekend. The film grossed 58.50 crore nett in week one which is easily the best of the year beating the 52 crore nett of Baby another Akshay Kumar starrer. Gabbar Is Back had two partial holiday but Baby had the much bigger Republic Day holiday which is a bigger advantage.
The film has put up good to decent figures in most circuits. Mysore is low but that is expected for this type of film. Mysore is the only circuit where collections are less than Baby.
The second week is all important for the film as it must hold well, it has chances to be highest grosser of year but if it falls short it should have the highest distributor share of the year as it clocked up a 30 crore plus share in week one and should beat the 38 crore of Baby.
Gabbar Is Back Set To Be Top Grosser Of Year 11 May 2015
Gabbar Is Back did well in its second weekend with business of around 12.75 crore nett which is a drop of around 67% from the first weekend. The total is 72 crore nett in ten days and the film is on course to be the biggest grosser of 2015.
The film may even emerge the first real hit of the year but depends as the 40 crore distributor share is there but it has to go over 45 crore to be a hit and for that it has get numbers in week three and week four. the film did get some competition from Piku from Saturday onwards but as the business in premium multiplexes was that great anyway it did not make much difference to the film.
The film is already the biggest grosser of 2015 in Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI, Nizam/ Andhra, Bihar, Assam and Orissa. Delhi/UP should also become number one by the end of the week.
Gabbar Is Back held up well in week two grossing around 18.75 crore nett taking its two week total to 79 crore nett. The drop from the first week was around 67% which is a decent trend for a mass film like Gabbar Is Back
The film did have competition at metro multiplexes from Piku but at many centtres its second week collections were better than Piku. In fact better than both the new releases (Piku and Kuch Kuch Locha Hai) put together. It is the highest grossing film of 2015 in many circuits in two weeks and should become the highest grossing film Hindi film of 2015 by the end of its run.
The film will cross 3 crore nett in Bihar which is more than double the business of any other releases of 2015.
Gabbar Is Back will finish with lifetime business of 85 crore nett, the competition every week has held the films back slightly otherwise it could have gone to 90 crore nett. Still its the biggest grosser of the year till date.SEMI HIT
