Are you guys implying that "Jaata Kahan Hai Deewane" song is not in the film CID ??

I'm pretty sure I have seen this song in CID VHS/ DVD . Isn't it where Waheeda tries to hold Dev Annand back because the baddies had instructed her to do so ?? Or. is that another song ??

I've heard from several sources, including Waheeda Rehman herself (in the video provided by Muz) that the song was deleted because of the censors having issues with it. (Thanks to Muz, the reason too is known.) Even YouTube doesn't have the song at all. That is perhaps because none of the retail DVDs have the song in it.

I haven't seen the movie, so can't comment whether the song you're talking about is the same one or another. Please let is know if your VHS/DVDs actually have the song.

Thanks!

The beginning music of the song is in the film ... that is all! As soon as the singing is about to start the song abruptly stops. Of course, there is the possibility that a VHS version of the film might be somewhere with the song intact ... but I haven't seen it. The clip below is where I think the song might have been (at least the whole intro music of the song is in this scene).

The song that you are thinking about where Waheeda Rehan hides Dev Anand is a Shamshad Begum song - "Kahin Pe Nigahen, Kahin Pe Nishana".

Bombay Velvet Has Just One Week Run
22 May 2015

Bombay Velvet is a huge disaster as it grossed 22 crore nett in week one. the film has a very low weekend and collections kept on dropping badly from Monday onwards. The film could not even show any sort of hold at sub 2 crore nett days. The film faced total rejection.

The film will struggle to hit 25 crore nett as most multiplexes reduce the screenings to one show a day. Its the same picture abroad as well as India and its Worldwide Gross will hardly be 45 crore.

This puts its Worldwide figures less than low grossing flops of last year like Shaadi Ke Side Effects and Finding Fanny. Every circuit was a disaster with best performance coming in Mysore comparatively.

Bombay Velvet Is Amongst The Biggest Disasters Ever
23 May 2015

The film grossed 22 crore nett in week one. The film will gross slghtly more than Ranbir Kapoor's first film Saawariya puts into perspective how bad the film is. Saawariya grossed 21 crore nett in 2007 and Bombay Velvet will do 2 crore more. DISASTER

I would have wanted to continue CID related discussion in any existing CID thread but it's impossible to search for that thread because of the abbreviated title CID. So, I'm posting my CID/ Bombay Velvet related comments here.

I'm curious to know why exactly was the song deleted from C.I.D.?

Has Jata Kahan Hai Deewana ever been released before on video by any chance?

In this interview Waheeda Rehman said that the mukhda "Jaata kahaan hai deewane, sab kuchh yahaan hai sanam" lead to the song to be removed ... lots of people think it was due to the word "fifi" - but not the case!

http://www.ndtv.com/video/player/news/a ... /366389?yt

I heard that the footage for the song is held in the national film archive ... but who knows!

I checked my Esquire VHS and sure as everybody said, "Jaata Kahan Hai Deewane" song is not in the film. What a disappointment that such a famous film song is not in the film, that it was supposed to be in. If the original footage is available (Archieves or anywhere), it should be put back in the film. The Censors reason was absurd and the segment sure would have passed Censors later on. Without this segment film classic film CID is incomplete and dis-continuous. In a film where every detail is explained like explaining to a child, how could they leave out what and how it happened and it's not shown that Dev is made unconscious and dropped off somewhere where he wakes up. In one shot conversation is going on, and abruptly, in the next film frame Dev wakes up elsewhere.

Moreover, Interval is at 65 min into the film out of a 145 min feature (re-introducing that missing film-reel/ segment would make the interval at logical 75 min in a 155 min feature.

(YRF DVD is PAL to NTSC converted video ?? coming out at 140 min (4% speed up); Esquire VHS is direct Film to NTSC and is 145 min, no speed up; Censor Certificate shows 13190 ft which is 146.5 min).
-----------------------------------------------------------------

I wasn't planning on watching Bombay Velvet anytime soon but for the curiosity to see (even a different) video picture connected with this famous song (even if altered), I will watch Bombay Velvet soon.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Similar to "Jaata Kahan hai Deewane, Sab Kuchh Yahan Hai Sanam" is in Feroz Khan's Apraadh, "Ae Naujwan, Hai Sub Kuchh Yahan"

Lyrics in "Kahin Pe Nigaahein Kahin Pe Nishana" were used to advise Dev to escape. In one of the early Dara Singh films, lyrics in a song were used hinting him to the danger ahead.

I agree it was really absurd of those censor people to have deleted this song. I really love the song!

viewtopic.php?t=8017 for some reason I'm unable to view the contents of this "CID" thread.

Bombat Velvet Is First Big Budget Urban Niche Film
14 May 2015

The biggest film of the year so far will release this week with a landing cost of well over 100 crore but that is just on paper whereas on screen it looks a niche urban drama which has a limited market of 6-7 cities. It is the first film of this sort which has a cost which is this high .......

If Bombay Velvet pulls it off then that would give a lot of hope to this urban cinema being made today as it giveoos a sign that this sort of recovery is possible. Realistically it will be hard as historically the audience outside the metros has never patronised this type of cinema.

It didn't pull it off, a mega flop. But at least it looked great, very slick and maybe the sets, Anushkas dresses and lip synching to the singing of Neeti Mohan
were the best things about it. Raveena Tandon was cool too in her cameo. But, then i'm a Big Anurag fan and maybe too apologetical.
So, that means every big budgeted hindi film in the future will be garbage like Chennai Express or PK. Masala rules Another Century.

But, maybe there's one good thing from this disaster - if AK is forced to return to his indiestyle of low budgeted filmmaking, which have given us masterful
works as Gulaal, Dev D and Black Friday. The semi-mainstream Gangs of W. and Ugly were great too, but hopefully film companies will Not give him any
100 crore budgets no more. I hope he's got this dream of working with Mainstream Bollywood out of his system now, and that he's Another Gulaal for us
