I think you might be confusing between two different movies, both starring Aamir Khan. The song 'pardesi pardesi jaana nahi' is from the movie 'Raja Hindustani'. Whereas the movie with the backdrop of the 'riots of 1947' is Deepa Mehta's 'Earth'.

It is neither of those two movies.It is a wedding song about a muslim girl getting refuge from a hindu family( looks like)

The song is in color. It is not Pinjar
1947 a country divided by partition
friends torn by war
a muslim family made helpless
seeking shelter in other's homes
which theh eventually find in a himdu home
and then begins a story of love.

The song is on a dvd called Pyaar Hi Pyaar

Perhaps you could listen to the song again from the DVD and post the lyrics or search YouTube with the lyrics.
