Jai Ho Decent Overseas - Good In Gulf
28 January 2014

Jai Ho has did decent business overseas grossing $3.45 million with The Gulf giving good collections of $1.2 million approx. Australia was pretty good at nearly Aus $250,000 while US/Canada and UK gave fair results at best with figures of $840,000 and £245,000 respectively

The weekend numbers in Gulf are good as its the 8th best opening of all time in that market and the best Salman Khan opening after Bodyguard which came on Eid. The figures in The Gulf were slightly better than Dabangg 2.

The figures are pretty similar to other Salman Khan starrers though the $3.5 million total of Ek Tha Tiger was affected by a pre Eid and a midweek release. The overseas opening is the fourth best vcer for a Salman Khan starrer after Dabangg 2, Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger.

Jai Ho Tuesday Business
29 January 2014

Jai Ho had a noticeable drop on Tuesday as it grossed around 7.25 crore nett taking the five day total to a little over 74 crore nett. The first week will finish around 85 crore nett as the next two days should add around 11 crore nett with a 15% drop on each day.

The second weekend is very important for it to put up a good to decent final total. A 150 crore nett total is out of the question however the film is in a better position than the first two days where the film looked heading towards a little over 100 crore.

There is just film One By Two releasing this week and that will not be much competition so that Friday total and Saturday growth will tell where the second week is going. At the moment the film is trending towards a similar total like Ready but a big Saturday and Sunday this week can take it higher than Ready which grossed 120 crore nett approx.

Jai Ho Less Than Ram Leela At Multiplexes
Friday 07 February 2014

Jai Ho will do less business than Goliyon Ki Raasleela at multiplexes as its first week figures came in less at multiplexes by 10%. The collections were lower at most chains expect Big which has a lot od small multiplexes in B and C centres.

It is this under performance at multiplexes which has let down Jai Ho. The all India multiplex business of Jai will finish in the 60-65 crore range which is around 100 crore nett less than a film like Dhoom 3. Although it was never likely to match Dhoom 3 at multiplexes, this sort of difference is too much.

Jai Ho Grosses 101.50 Crore In Two Weeks
Friday 07 February 2014

Jai Ho crossed the 100 crore nett mark in midweek to take its business to around 101.50 crore nett as it crossed around 19.75 crore nett in its second week. The film was good second week in UP due to the tax exemption but even with tax exemption collections were less than most of the big films of 2013.

The performance of the film is very weak in West Bengal, the film was sold for 4.50 crore in the circuit and the lifetime share is looking to be just around 2.50 crore. Assam and Orrisa were a similar story due to huge prices paid by the distributors and recovery not even touching 50%.

The film has a huge reduction of screenings at multiplexes this week and will see a big drop at multiplexes with single screens still doing better as there is no replacement as yet. The lifetime business of the film is looking to be 107-108 crore nett.

Jai Ho At 105 Crore Nett Plus After 17 Days
10 February 2014

*Jai Ho is SEMI HIT

Jai Ho grossed around 2.25-2.50 crore nett in its third weekend taking the business to 105.50 crore nett after seventeen days. The film is entertainment tax free in UP and Gujarat and these are the best collecting areas in third weekend. Gujarat belt has been best from day one.

The film is looking at final business of around 108 crore nett which would mean it just about getting in the top twenty grossers of all time with business in the same range as films like Don 2 and Golmaal 3 which were released a few years back.

Also the lifetime business of Jai Ho is less than what recent Salman Khan starrers like Dabangg 2 grossed in nine days and what Ek Tha Tiger grossed in six days.
SEMI HIT
