Just saw the review of this film on IANS.

http://www.samachar.com/Paan-Singh-Toma ... idicc.html

If the film is anywhere close to what's described in the review, I would give it 6 stars out of 5.

Did anyone see it ??

Brilliant! Superb! Excellent!

Sounding a bit exaggerated? Maybe so. But not if you take into account the wonderful human story, i.e. 'Paan Singh Tomar'. I have been quite enamored with the work of Tigmanshu Dhulia so far. But even then, he has totally surprised me with how good this movie is. The movie is a perfect example of what good, 'ENTERTAINING', COMMERCIAL cinema can be. I sincerely hope that this movie gets it's due, not only in the awards race, but also at the box office. It is an absolute shame that UTV has released the movie with such low publicity and on such few screens/shows. Hopefully 'word of mouth' will carry this movie through.

For all those who have been gushing over movies such as 'The Dirty Picture' and 'Agneepath' as good/great movies, please go watch 'Paan Singh Tomar' for a lesson in what a good movie actually is. Mind you, it is thoroughly entertaining too.

BTW: Irrfan Khan once again proves, that he is probably (?) the BEST ACTOR in Hindi cinema today.

This was okay, maybe better than okay but fell short of being something great. On paper the story sounds great but didn't quite gel on screen. Maybe it feels like this story has been told before (if you take away sports uniqueness of it) with much more rawness in Bandit Queen. Irrfan's performance is really great though, Paan Singh Tomar def worth a watch and something different to norm.

What's with the stupid cigarette health warning on films these days? This is the second one I've watch with these messages plastered in very odd places. Agneepath had it whenever someone lit a cigarette during the movie and Paan Singh Tomar has in a even more oddly stupid place before end credits rolls; a few Indian sportsmen are listed who died penniless or under some other conditions then straight after this cigarette health warning is displayed probably inadvertently suggesting that cigarettes caused their demise :?
