No topic for this little gem? :o

Watched this on the off chance knowing very little about the movie and was pleasantly surprised - it's a really good movie with similarities to the infamous Paanch that never saw the full light - incidentally Anurag Kashyap was a producer for Shaitan.

First film from director Bejoy Nambiar, definitely a name to watch out for.

Woohoo, Ali's back for his annual posts!!!!!!!

I saw Shaitan last weekend as well, and I thought it was a good film.........but for me, something was missing. I just couldn't empathise with any of the characters, which took a lot of involvement in the film away for me.

Having said that, I do think Rajeev Khandelwal is an actor to look out for, after both this and Aamir. The rest of the cast were pretty good too.

:D I got my 2 weeks off, so trying cut down my ever growing to-watch list.

Yeh loved Rajeev Khandelwal role in Shaitan, he's intro was ace and that shoot out scene reminded me of scene in The International, came a bit out of the blue but done with some style.

Just watched this, and although it becomes kind of routine after the car accident scene, its still a stylish and enjoyable film. The Khoya Khoya Chand sequence is fantastic.

The DVD features one of the more interesting behind-the-scenes videos I've seen on an Indian DVD, which shows some of the inventive camera rigs they've used in the film.

Didn t like it much either but this Rajeev Khandelwal was good in a small part.
The visual style was somewhat cool but there was no tension there and the acting weak.
Surprisingly ? With Kashyap as co-producer Kalki Koechlin should be better, bad here though.

The story with those horribly obnoxious rich kids meeting their karma and getting involved in
killings and kidnapping should be more intense and interesting.
This worries me a bit. With Anurag Kashyap involved he should have fired this Bejoy Nambiar
newbie director up, agitating him to get some fire in there, some intensity and tension in the
somanbulistic cast
(Sorry about my bad english and maybe using the wrong words)

Anurag Kashyap needs to move away from the "Bad-ass" attitude genre. His attempt in Paanch failed, and he's certainly isn't making any progress with Shaitan either. Shaitan attempts to stylize and glamourize depravity and violence. IMO, their's absolutely nothing to admire here.
