Looking forward to watching this one, has got some good reviews - apart from Adarsh of course, who gives it 3 stars because "There are several instances in the narrative where the viewer has to stay very, very attentive"

Yes, isn't it great. Bollywood film's evolving. We're watching a volcano of creativity
and Vishal Bhardway surely gets fired up by his younger friend Anurag Kashyap.
Love to see this malayalam actor Mohanlal and Priyanka in a good part again, Naseeruddin
always a pleasure.
Hopefully the DVD will not be as destroyed with a gigantic logo as Bhardwaj's latest on Shemaroo

Kashyap and Bhardwaj's on a mission - to change the way of making Bollywood film.
Watched Kashyaps Gulaal again yesterday, and it's a masterpiece. Perfection and something
new. Experimental like an indian Citizen Kane and there's great acting from everyone, Mishra's music
and acting, and Kay Kay Menon's performance may be among the greatest ever.
He's so talented it's scary. Bollywood should be really proud of him and shower him with FF Awards

This folks, is a great time to be a Bollywood film fan

Another gem from someone equally as stupid as Adarsh, Komal Nahata:

"Showing Priyanka ugly when her character has aged is not a wise thing to do even if it is done in the name of realism, because she is, after all, the heroine of the film."

As more reviews are being put up online, the film seems to be getting mixed reviews, but more negative. Still looking forward to checking this out though.

Oops, sorry, i definitely thought that Mohanlal should be in Bhardway's new film
but obviously he backed out of it
Ishqiya, Maqbool and Kaminey behind his belt etc. i'm sure this film will be good too

I expect much better of Vishal Bhardwaj. His films are usually a great blend of the innovative, superb performances and entertainment. He's hit the nail on the head again with the novelty and performances again, but 7 Khoon Maaf is sorely lacking in the entertainment department. The film's basic plot is about Sussanah and her seven husbands, yes, yes, but we really don't care much for her or them. The reasons for Susannah's dissatisfaction with each hubby is always clearly laid out and shared with us, but I could care less. (Though let me add that the scenes where we're shown Irfan Khan's disgusting kink are too gratuitous and actually had a few poor ladies in our audience leave in horror.)
If 7 Khoon is redeemed by anything, it is the great performances. Priyanka excels once again in a central role and is ably supported by a troupe of great comrades, marital and otherwise. Annu Kapoor and Vivaan Shah stand out most for me. Unfortunately though, I still think none of these characters are good enough to merit an award. They just didn't stand out enough.
The biggest shocker is that apart from the unforgettable "Darling", even the music this time is so so. Bhardwaj's songs work ok in the movie, but I couldn't really remember the non-Darling tunes afterwards.
I do hope Vishal Bhardwaj remembers the importance of entertainment with his next film. This time the weird factor has seemed to engulf him.

5/10

I posted a very long review at Twitch.net. I'm not sure I can post a link here, but feel free to look. I really liked it.

I thought the movie was really good, as expected from V.B., I haven't seen Kaminey, cause the reviews really ridiculed it..and tried watching it a bid once but lost interest in the first half hour, which I think should always be steller to keep the audience engaged.

1st paragraph of my short 7 Khoon Maaf review:
Quote:
Based on Ruskin Bond's short story. The film's premise is incredibly far-fetched, its mystic meanderings exceedingly contrived. In lesser hands, it would be merely the most pretentious film of the year. But Bhardwaj and his cast tackle the material with real dramatic conviction, and its ultimate impact (concluding with one of the year's most quietly haunting images) somehow manages to transcend both the film's stylized artsiness and its spiritual silliness.

The other part of my review is to be continued as soon as Ali figures out why I wasn't able to post it in all one message.

Thanks to Ali for looking into this little problem. But anywho, here's my complete review of the film:
Quote:
Based on Ruskin Bond's short story. This film's premise is incredibly far-fetched, its mystic meanderings exceedingly contrived.

The actors really flesh out their characters, which would, in lesser hands, likely come off fatally one-dimensional. John Abraham doesn't match his No Smoking performance in terms of dramatic intensity, but his creepiness works well here, and Irrfan Khan's poet turned hardKore-sex freak is on-par(as strange as it may be) with any of his best performance. Priyanka Chopra is mostly superb, too, though she occasionally seems (rather ironically) like she's acting out of that What's Your Raashee?. As Priyanka Chopra's first husband, Neil Nitin Mukesh gives perhaps the film's finest performance and certainly its most affectingly understated.

While I have more than a few reservations about this film, but the film's effective key principal performances & Bhardwaj's visual chic that I'm tempted to overlook them.
