Aditya Narayan hunts for a ghost in debut movie

Romantic films are considered safe for a Bollywood debut but Aditya Narayan, son of singer Udit Narayan, has chosen Vikram Bhatt's horror film 'Shaapit' as his launch vehicle.

The film will see Aditya playing a young man, who sets out on a journey to find and destroy an evil spirit and lift a 300 year-old curse, which is stopping him from marrying the girl of his dreams. "It is Vikram Bhatt's third horror film after 'Raaz' and '1920'.

We are calling it an adventure, horror, love story because it is about the journey that I take. It is similar to Hollywood films like 'Indiana Jones' but while there are treasure hunts, I set out to find a ghost in 'Shaapit'," Aditya told reporters.

"I play Aman in the movie, who is in love with Kaaya (Shweta) and wants to marry her. But she has a generation curse where in a daughter cannot marry. I set out to lift the curse and whether I succeed or not is the story," said Aditya.

The 22-year-old young star started his playback career in Bollywood with Aamir Khan starrer 'Akele Hum Akele Tum' and became famous with the song "Chhota Baccha Jaan Ke" from the film 'Masoom' in 1996.

But taking the route of horror for a debut is not something that many would choose. "I don't see other people's career graph. There is no success formula in Bollywood.

However, if you have a good film with a good story and your character is appreciated then that will take you forward. I loved the story and loved my character in the film and that's why I decided to give acting a go ahead," the debutante said.

Aditya has not only acted in the movie but has also composed and sung in the movie. The young actor, who has also hosted popular show 'Sa re ga ma' on TV, is not planning to limit himself with acting only. "Shapit is complete and is releasing soon.

I will also be in the next film that Vikram is directing but it is too early to talk about it. Apart from that I will continue my music career. I don't want to stop anything. If anything interests me on small screen I will definitely like to do it," he said. Aditya is also planning a 10-city 'Shaapit' tour to promote the movie, which releases on March 19.

That was another annoying little brat - Omkar Kapoor (I think). He'll probably surface as a hero soon...........although he used to think he was a full fledged hero then!!

just saw this today

not a patch on Vikram Bhatt's Raaz, Fear and 1920

its basically a modern-day remake of Purana Mandir without the chessy fun of the original and with a bigger budget and special effects

gimme Purana Mandir anyday!!!!

Shaapit, though its a horror movie but not as much scary. I didn't enjoy the movie at all. I just tolerated it because of Aditya Narayan. He is so cute and acted well. Some of its songs are also nice.

Sorry writing in an very old thread without interest to anyone, but still:

Watched Shaapit yesterday. I'm a huge horror fan and even though Bollywood rarely
makes a good horrorfilm, they mostly are enjoyable due to the trashiness, humour and
bizarre happenings. 13B from 2009 was quite smart and funny. Vikram Bhatt's Raaz and
1920 were really good, so this follow up, wow i had some expectations.

It was terrible. Terrible. Doesn't Mr. Bhatt has got some pride, honor. Why release this?
Scooby Doo and Buffy meets Evil Dead (or Purana Mandir) made by some kid in the huge
Bhatt family and released in Vikram's name? My worst Bollywood film 2010 watching
