Life Partner released past Friday along with a much bigger film Kaminey. Kaminey got the bulk of hype and business past weekend but I think Life Partner will hold on its own by word of mouth publicity. I saw it on Sunday.

It's not only a laugh riot (from start to finish) but also is different, as well as, has a message. Message from younger generation to older generation :D .

Comedy, comic plot, punch lines are all excellent.

Only minus was missing surround, as well as, powerful audio. Either the film has no surround or may be just this theatre screening (it's the first time I saw a no surround activity at this theatre) ??

It showed Dolby Digital logo (no DTS) in the end credits.
Film run time aprox 140 min.

-----------
-Even those who consider "No Entry" "Partner" type films crap, I think will like this film. It's not a cheap or vulgar comedy.

-It's a big achievement if an actor's (Anupam Kher) brief laugh/ giggle in the background brings out a burst of laughter in the theatre.

Film: Life Partner
Starring: Govinda, Fardeen Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, Genelia D'Souza, Prachi Desai & Anupam Kher
Director: Rumi Jaffery
Producers: Abbas - Mustan
Music: Pritam
Release: 14th August 2009

BK INFO: Who could ever think that the guy who completly messed a Bruce Almighty remake down Bollywood this time last year with two big stars of Bollywood, a message that could have worked for the Indian audience. This director messed the film up so badly that it was hard for anyone to bear the film for even 10 mins and made it looking like it came from 90's. This time, the great thriller duo Abbas Mustan suprisingly come out with a comedy directed by the same director and adding Govinda, which hasn't had a decent film for the last two years and two other actors who have had a string of flops. So how confident can we be?

Ups
Life Partner works for several reason. After seeing several mindless comedies like Singh Is Kinng, Welcome and Golmaal Returns which have worked at the box office and made us laugh too. Life Partner is not a mindless comedy, its something that has a valuable message to all of us at the same time telling us the story of two couples with their own problems, one arranged and one love. The funny part about LP lies in its story, something we can all relate to, very down to earth. A majority of the scenes are pretty clean, meaning not a dirty comedy and suitable for familes. The presence of some comedians from the 90's (Govinda, Anupam Kher, Jagdeep) are sure and I mean sure to bring the house down. The best more suitable, entertaining and fresh comedy I have seen in ages.

Downs
The problem lies with the casting of Govinda playing the playboy, where Govinda looks too old to do. Govinda's comic timing is top notch the role is not his but belongs to an actor a little younger. Maybe Akshay Kumar or Salman could have enhanced the role.

Scenes

- Fardeen cusses Genelia infront of Govinda and Tusshar in the resturant
- Genelia mistakes Govinda for Fardeen
- Tusshar flirts with his wife infront of his dad (best scene in the film!)
- Jagdeep's heart attack
- Genelia burns the house
- Govinda turns the tables!
- Climax

Performances

(in order of better performance)

Govinda may have a complete miscast role but his comic timing will always remain the best. Govinda is unmatchable when it comes to comedy, and its shows still today the guy has not lost it. His performance in Partner won his fans back and Do Knot Disturb, will make his haters into fans!

Tusshar Kapoor aces here. Honestly after the decent performance given in the Golmaal films, I thought Tusshar could never top them. I am wrong. Tusshar works wonders here too! A wonder performance.

Fardeen Khan being a very under-rated actor like his father gets the correct type of role. He surely needs to stick to the right type of role like this one that suits him to the T.

Prachi Desai is beautiful, young and talented. She has a far way to go and still needs to impress us all over again.

Genelia D'Souza does good here after JTYJN. Her dialouge delivery needs to be dusted.

Darshan Jariwala as Tusshar's dad is does deliver some standards.

Anupam Kher is okay in a brief role.

Music
Not a great alblum but some tracks like 'Kooke' and 'Aage Aage' are wonderful in the film itself. Pritam has lacked down on his normally listenable music, but the songs are passable.

Overall
As a product, LP is a wonderful and very entertaining film that is made for any age of audience. Its a film which I could consider a 'cinema film', something I would go out of my way to watch in a cinema. Seeing a Kaminey has released the same day, its does seem hard for the film to survive during Ramazan. But never mind, something like LP is something very enjoyable to watch and aces in the department of commerical cinema.

This is what I call commerical Nadiawala! Most entertaining film of the year.
