RAB NE BANA DI JODI

The first look of the most awaited film of the year by Aditya Chopra is now officially revealed not by a teaser, not by a soundtrack but interestingly, in the form of this one gigantic poster installed accross cinema halls all over the country. Note that just to increase curiosity levels, the poster still doesnt have the name of the film on it. Enjoy !

New theatrical trailer looks great, but also very simple... Maybe Aditya thinks that by keeping it that way he'll have another DDLJ on his hands, but I'm suspect... The reason we all loved DDLJ so much is cause it came with NO expectations and swept us off our feet.

This movie has gargantuan and historic expectations tied to it. I just hope Anoushka is as good an actress as Kajol.

what do u think abt music? I would rate 5.5/10, only good song on entire package is DTPH, left over that takes you altogether in different dimension! The day when UTAM SINGH DID IT with help of Yash Chopra and Anand Bakshi! He could never stand on his 2 feet since then.

BTW it was said he composed 100 songs out of which 10 were selected for DTPH.

**NO spoilers don't worry **

Ok I caught an early showing of this yesterday and here are my thoughts . It's pretty much what you would expect from a Shah Rukh vehicle, a well thought out story with emotion. It's a different movie to others he has done, for a start the hero isn't a mega rich NRI, in fact the movie is set in India 100%.

The plot of the movie (which I wont spoil) is something that you would have seen done in other movies already, having said that Shah Rukh manages to bring some freshness to it. The girl in the movie, is very young compared to him and will probably be forgotten after this movie has left the box office. There are nice comedic moments and some touching moments in the story too, yes a few suprises and plenty of self referential moments.

Overall it's a nice movie that wont bore you, it's not the kind of film that you would watch lots of times, but certainly once is ok.......having said that I'm actually due to watch it again today with some friends! Sitting through it a second time wont be a problem for me.

8/10 - the story was just not original enough to get a better score.

Finally Caught it today. No Spoilers but only my conluding thoughts:-

The film is definitely not DDLJ, is definitely not Mohabbatein either. It is much lesser in terms of content, screenplay dialogues as well as scale of direction. Having said that i must say there is definitely one thing very strong and unique about it- The central message is much realistic, original and stronger than Adi's first two films - which is conveyed by the lead character (enacted in dual personalities) and sticks with you for a long after you have left the Auditorium. This is the kind of message which does no suit a Big Budget SRK-YRF film but needs very down to earth projection. One does notice at many instances that the film is quite obviously a result of very deft and creative writing .... but on what?? - sadly on a paper thin plot which although starts off promisingly on surprisingly a 'low profile mode', leaving you wondering is this really 'The most awaited YRF film' of the year but sooner the pleasant surprise gets plagued with too many uncalled for events of 'safe commercial cinema' (which steals the down to earth quality out of the soul of the film) that could have been done without or forgiven for that matter. Furtunately, towards the end of the film the pacing is restored and one finally begins to feel that at last i realised the value for money.

Well, it's not as engaging as DDLJ. But thankfully, it's not as dismal as Mohabbatein either. Adi returns to semi-form, with a sweet and simple tale having great performances courtesy King Khan, Vinay Pathak and Anushka Sharma. The first and third hours are brilliant, amusing and poignant. (Actually, the beginning of the movie is very Yashraj in narrative. For a sec there, I thought I was watching Lamhe part deux.)
If only the second hour were not so ploddingly slow and boring. My favourite aspect of the movie though has to be the songs: they complement the narrative to perfection and stay with you long after the on-screen proceedings are over.
And for those of you wondering, it's ten times better than OSO. ( 8/10 )
