Dec. 2008: There have been a lot of speculations off lately about the possible sequel to the blockbuster 1987 movie Mr. India starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. We can now confirm that Mr. India 2 will be going on the floors very soon and the lead cast will be the same.

Now it has been confirmed that Sridevi has given the nod to partner Anil Kapoor and once again revive the still talked about chemistry between one of best screen couples in the history of Bollywood.

Mr. India was a super-hit when it got released two decades back and it gave Anil’s career a much-needed boost. The story was about a social servant, with powers to be invisible any time he wants, fighting with the society baddies. The character of Ambrish Puri in the role of the villain Mogambo was in particular very famous.

Most probably the sequel will be directed by Anurag Basu and the original director Shekhar Kapoor will be the creative advisor. Mr. India 2 will be produced by Boney Kapoor and Manmohan Shetty.

Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor’s latest movie Slumdog Millionaire will be released in India soon. The much acclaimed Hollywood movie is one of the favorites for the Oscars and has already won the People’s Choice Award in Toronto Film Festival.

Says Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios India, “In keeping with Fox STAR studio’s commitment to produce and distribute world-class local-language films, we are proud to announce the release of Slumdog Millionaire in January. It’s an extraordinary film which tells a classic Indian story in a refreshingly clever, stylish and engaging manner.”
