A few Yrs back I had a terrible experience of paying big bucks ($ 70) to watch a concert that really was CD audio with lip sync.
Can't get any worst than that I thought. Well, I think Unforgettable is one up on that. What would you say to spending upwards of $ 200 and every performer getting a full intro on a large screen TV taking up 50% of the total concert time ?? Moreover, during the long video intro, the actor is not on the stage. And, nothing memorable in actual performance if any ??

Better watch movie video clips of these stars on your large screen TV, for free, at home.

Uh oh. I'm going to this in Atlantic City next month.

That intro thing seems to be pretty common with these behemoth 3 hour plus Bwood megastar shows. I've been to a few others and this seems to happen at almost all of them.

Large screen projections are fin e as a backdrop but if they are used just to fill time, making 3 hrs of stars appearances to less than 90 min, I do have a problem spending big bucks.

Similarly in another show, there was an add-on local talent fashion show or sort of. No one was interested but announcers kept on shaming the audience for not giving "Hausla Afzaaii" (encouragement) to local personnel. Well, we don't spend hundreds of dollars for Hausla Afzaaii and getting a 90 min real performance instead of 180 min.

Which is why I haven't paid THAT much money to go, usually the lowest price ticket. 50 bucks in this case, comparable to bigger Western shows. I do think spending a few hundred is pretty outrageous.

I can't remember where I read this article, but the heading stayed in my mind, it was; "Unforgettable, or unaffordable?". Do the Bachchan's really think all NRIs live in this Karan Johar-esque utopia?

Madhuri Dixit joins Unforgettable tour in US

After conquering Toronto and Trinidad, the Unforgettable Tour is set to debut in the US.

Madhuri Dixit [Images] will join the rest of the performers -- Amitabh Bachchan [Images], Abhishek Bachchan [Images], Aishwarya Rai [Images] Bachchan, Preity Zinta [Images], Riteish Deshmukh [Images] and music directors Vishal-Shekhar -- in the American leg of the world tour.

Starting in Los Angeles on July 26, the tour will move on to eight other cities before reaching UK, Holland and Germany [Images].

All the actors performances have been choreographed by Shiamak Davar.

On her association with the tour, Madhuri said, "I am very excited to be associated with the Unforgettable Tour. There have been attempts in the past to bring Mr Bachchan and me together onstage, but it didn't materialise. Now through the Unforgettable and Wizcraft, I will have the pleasure of performing with him, Aishwarya and Abhishek on the same stage. I am really excited about reaching out to my fans."

Unforgettable takes toll on Amitabh; falls ill

rediff Entertainment Bureau | July 25, 2008 16:24 IST

Just as the Bachchans Unforgettable Tour is picking up steam, Amitabh Bachchan [Images] has fallen ill.

The actor in his blog, said, 'I have developed a fever and inflamed chest. I am getting attention from all my family members and bloggers.

'Everyone in his family and friends are advising homemade remedies like turmeric milk, ginger tea and gargle throat with tepid warm water' he added.

Bachchan claimed it would take four days for him to recover.

Meanwhile, there are plans to add one more city in Germany [Images] to make the tour really unforgettable. The tour at present is touring the United States.

** For Senior Citizens hard to keep up! :D

SPOILERS below in case you don't wanna know about show details:
--------------------
So we caught the UNFORGETTABLE concert in AC this past Sat. night. Quite a good show on the whole, but it would've been EVEN better if they trimmed it down. It started out with a solid 20 min. set from a local NJ dance troop. By 9:30, the show started with the usual video intros overemphasizing the popularity of the stars. Each actor hit the stage and did a solid 4 song set, nicely remixed and choreographed. Highlights included Ritesh Deshmukh's moves to a song from CASH, the Little B's intro to "Right Here Right Now" where a huge posse of bodyguards let him all the way from the back of the stadium to the stage through the crowd, and Preity Zinta's fun turn doing "Pretty Woman" from KHNH. After that solid hour or so, the show then began to die down. Jaya Auntie hits the stage to somberly intro a video on global warming that would've made Al Gore proud! Then composers Vishal and Shekhar do a medley of tunes from OM SHANTI OM (at this point, I was in line at concessions getting kicked by some dude's baby while waiting for a Sierra Mist). Abhishek then comes out to do a "tribute" to his dad by donning the headband and doing that famous number from DON, which turned out to be a pale comparison. Ash also did some numbers from DHOOM 2 and was visibly trying to do dance counts in her head. It was great when the Big B hit the stage to do a calypso styled tune. He kinda walked through it, but was saving his dance moves for later on when needed in "Say Shava Shava." Around 12:45 am, he came back out to give a couple of old filmi anecdotes and recite a few monologue bits from his famous movies like DEEWAAR. He even changed his voice completely during one bit and drove audience members to tears. I wish that we could've appreciated it more but it was indeed almost 1am. I think at this point I saw two sets of non-Indian audience members leave completely. It's tough to dance along after that to the Big B, Little B, Ash hit, "Kaja Re" from BUNTY AUR BUBLI, Madhuri (the definite show highlight) and Ash doing their DEVDAS number "Dola Re" and the finale, JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM. All in all a good night if way way way too long.

A few more things:

The venue was entirely sold out.

They put Ritesh up to kill a bunch of time by having him do a trivia game with the audience for T-shirts. This was actually less painful than it sounds.

Only the Big B and Vishal-Shekhar actually sang with live mics, aside from the Little B during a bit from "Right Here Right Now."
