After Mumbai Express, it's Jo Bole So Nihaal that's not releasing in 'B,C' grade Toronto Desi theatres, but is releasing in three 'A' grade Big screen Big Sound theatres equipped with DD and DD-Ex that will do full justice to superior sound required for an action film.

JBSN is also playing in Montreal AMC-22 that doesn't have DD, so you get backup audio.

"Jo Bole So Nihaal"

Playing this week at:

Sheppard Centre Grande (Cineplex Odeon)
4861 Yonge St. (Sheppard Centre), Toronto
Fri, Sat, Sun, Thu: 12:50, 3:50, 6:50, 9:50
Mon, Tue, Wed: 3:50, 6:50, 9:50

Silvercity Brampton (Famous Players)
Hwy 410 & Bovaird Drive, Brampton
Fri, Sat, Sun, Thu: 12:55, 4:00, 7:15, 10:25
Mon, Tue, Wed: 4:00, 7:15, 10:25

Square One (Cineplex Odeon)
100 City Centre Drive, Mississauga
Every day: 12:10, 3:40, 7:00, 10:15

Because of Sunny Deol and lots of Punjabis in GTA, Expect a long successfull run in these three theatres that are in the middle of majority South Asian, mainly Punjabi, areas of Toronto where even small Punjabi films keep running for weeks and weeks in these Grade 'A' theatres.

"Jo Bole So Nihaal"

Playing this week at:

AMC Forum 22 (AMC)
2313 Ste-Catherine Ouest, Montréal
Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue: 1:20, 4:15, 7:10, 10:05

-------------------------------
No JBSN for Ottawa but good news if someone wants Kaal Waqt in good theatres.

http://www.cinemaclock.com/aw/cmva.aw?p ... bmit=Go%21

"Kaal"

Playing this week at:

Kanata 24 (AMC)
801 Earl Grey Dr., Kanata
Fri, Sat, Sun: 2:10, 5:10, 8:10
Mon, Tue: 5:10, 8:10

http://www.cinemaclock.com/aw/cmva.aw?p ... j=e&f=Waqt

"Waqt"

Playing this week at:

Rainbow St. Laurent Centre (Rainbow Cinemas)
St. Laurent Shopping Centre, 1200 St. Laurent Blvd, Ottawa
Every day: 8:00

I think Rainbow Cinemas is DD??
Ticket prices at Rainbow is only $ 5 for evening shows and $ 3 for matinees, but Waqt is not playing in matinees.

Hopefully, Finally, Ottawans are going to see a Hindi movie in proper audio format.

SARKAAR is starting from Tomorrow at Odeon Cineplex World Exchange and after SARKAAR, it's DUS. I think, all World Exchange theatres are Dolby Digital and hence our chance to see First Hindi Dolby Digital film in Ottawa.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

-----------------------

Mangal Pandey is also being advertized for this theatre.

I was dreaming in Technicolor.

Keeping my fingers crossed did not work. Watching a Hindi film with Dolby Digital, in Ottawa, is still a dream.

Odeon Cineplex World Exchange has 7 screens of which only 3 theatres had films playing in Dolby Digital, 1 film in DTS and other 3 films including SARKAAR was in back up Dolby Surround.

Expecting DUS to be in Ottawa in backup audio as well, no way I'll watch an effect laden film like DUS in a non DD theatre. Toronto is still showing it in DD in a THX certified theatre.

At SARKAAR screening, I did ask World Exchange Cineplex Odeon manager to bring in DUS in Dolby Digital theatre as it's an effects heavy film. He said, he'll give this feedback to their HQ. Brought results. DUS is starting tomorrow and is being played in Dolby Digital theatre. Confirmed.

---------------------------

BTW, in Toronto, DUS and SARKAAR continue playing at Square One in Dolby Digital.

I liked the presentation. Paisa Vasool film plus. I liked villain's acting. Definitely worth repeat viewing provided it's DD.
In the theatre, there sure was plenty of .1 effects and distinct rear/ surround speakers activity. Definitely makes a big difference when watching a film like DUS. (In back-up audio, it'll be flat).

Not 100% but 99.9% sure, it was in Dolby Digital.

Reason for 0.1% doubt:

When I came out, noticed that billboard stated DUS to be in DTS Stereo. But, in the end credits, there was no DTS logo and hence, I don't think DTS prints exist??
Bludhound, comment please??
I asked the manager and she stated that it's Digital DTS. I asked her to check again and there was no DTS disc. Then she checked and confirmed that it was in Dolby Digital. She said, they will change the lighted sign to indicate DD and remove DTS.

This week there are lots of Hindi/ Punjabi films playing in Dolby Digital in Toronto.

Dus, Sarkaar were already on and are still playing at Square One (may be other theatres too) and this week, it's a less known but a bigger release in Toronto at least, Punjabi YAHAN. It's playing at Square One (Missisauga), as well as, in Silver City (Brampton). Both Dolby Digital and THX.

So, DUS became first Hindi Dolby Digital film in Ottawa and now MANGAL PANDEY will be first Hindi film playing in a THX theatre in Ottawa. It's screening from Aug 26 at Silver City. All theatres at Silver City Ottawa are THX certified and capable of DD as well as DTS. :D

--------------------

Mangal Pandey has been playing in Desi theatres in Toronto and AMC. Most likely, as always Hindi film prints always arrive in Dolby Digital and none of Albion or AMC is equipped wih Dolby Digital Sound. Torontonians had a chance to see Mangal Pandey in proper DD sound this past weekend at Cinesphere I-Max (2 shows total). If anyone missed it, then you still have a chance to catch it in Ottawa for a THX presentation.

Toronto Montreal Ottawa screenings for the week Aug 26 to Sept 1, 2005:

OTTAWA:

"The Rising"

Playing this week at:
Silvercity Gloucester (Famous Players)
2385 City Park Drive (at Ogilvie), Gloucester
Every day: 3:00, 6:15, 9:30

"No Entry"

Playing this week at:
Rainbow St. Laurent Centre (Rainbow Cinemas)
St. Laurent Shopping Centre, 1200 St. Laurent Blvd, Ottawa
Fri, Sat, Sun: 1:00, 4:30, 8:00
Mon-Thursday: Show Times to be announced.

Theatre of choice is Siver City Film MANGAL PANDEY in THX.

But, most likely No Entry will be more popular even though in a sub-standard theatre. (Only one of six theatres at Rainbow is Dolby Digital)

Added Later:
No Entry is in Theatre # 5 which is Dolby Digital. But, I found Audio to be really Flat. No Rear or Side Speaker activity. Either they did not select the right buttons or Volume was too low. Theatre Management said, they will look into it.

TORONTO:

"Barsaat"

Playing this week at:
Albion (Golden Theatres)
1530 Albion Road, Etobicoke
Fri, Sat, Sun: 12:15, 9:45
Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu: 9:45
Woodside (Golden Theatres)
1571 Sandhurst Circle, Agincourt
Fri, Sat, Sun: 12:15, 9:45
Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu: 9:45

"No Entry"

Playing this week at:
Albion (Golden Theatres)
1530 Albion Road, Etobicoke
Every day: 3:30, 6:45, 10:00
Square One (Cineplex Odeon)
100 City Centre Drive, Mississauga
Every day: 12:20, 4:20, 8:00
Woodside (Golden Theatres)
1571 Sandhurst Circle, Agincourt
Fri: 12:15, 3:30, 6:45, 10:00
Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu: 3:30, 6:45, 10:00

"The Rising"

Playing this week at:
Albion (Golden Theatres)
1530 Albion Road, Etobicoke
Fri, Sat, Sun: 12:00, 3:15, 6:30
Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu: 3:15, 6:30
Winston Churchill 24 (AMC)
2081 Winston Park Dr., Oakville
Every day: 12:20, 3:30, 7:00, 10:25
Woodside (Golden Theatres)
1571 Sandhurst Circle, Agincourt
Fri, Sat, Sun: 12:00, 3:15, 6:30
Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu: 3:15, 6:30

In Toronto area only NO ENTRY at Square One is in DD theatre. All others, you get back up audio as they rarely receive DTS prints even though theatres are DTS equipped.

MONTREAL:

"No Entry"

Playing this week at:
AMC Forum 22 (AMC)
2313 Ste-Catherine Ouest, Montréal
Every day: 1:30, 5:00, 8:30
Méga-Plex Sphèretech 14 (Cinema Guzzo)
3500 boul. Côte-Vertu, Saint-Laurent
Every day: 12:50, 3:50, 6:50, 9:50

"The Rising"

Playing this week at:
AMC Forum 22 (AMC)
2313 Ste-Catherine Ouest, Montréal
Every day: 3:00, 6:15, 9:35

Of Montreal films, only NO ENTRY at Méga-Plex Sphèretech 14 (Cinema Guzzo) might have DD audio. Other theatres don't have DD. [/b]

OTTAWA:
MANGAL PANDEY at Silver City in THX-Dolby Digital is still the talk of the town.

From Tomorrow Silver City is showing SALAAM NAMASTE. :D
(All Silver City theatres are THX as well as DD.)

Another filmi reason that Toronto-ians should travel to Ottawa as SALAAM NAMASTE is playing only in back up sound in Toronto theatres (Albion, Woodside, AMC all have DTS, No DD and Indian Films don't send DTS disc..
