What the hell is it with some people and attacking actors based on their appearances? First of all, Kareena Kapoor isn't "fat and ugly," by any standards. Certainly, not everyone has to think she's attractive, but "not being attractive" doesn't make her (physically) "fit to play 'mom' roles." Second, that's your reason for not liking her? Really? You watch a movie to see how thin or fat people are? If you don't like the way she acts, or just don't want to see her in a particular role, kick-ass; that's terrific. But you don't want her in Helen's part because she's "fat"? What the f***? Hell, Helen was hardly "slim," even for the 1970s, so, by that measure, she was a horrible original choice, wasn't she? Hema Malini was never "ultra-thin"; I take it she should never have shown her face on the silver screen, either. Damn: even Marilyn Monroe wasn't a "size '0'." Sorry if I'm letting off too much steam on just you, but I'm sick as shit of seeing people bash actors based solely on appearance, on message boards (not just Zulm.net). Some people do so jokingly, but — difficult as it can be to convey tone, on-line (even with "smileys") — others seem deadly sincere in their beratings. All this is said under the assumption that you fall into the latter category.

I for one find Kareena Kapoor to be very attractive. A little bitchy but still quite attractive and hot. :D

Croak, croak, croak, blah, blah. Fact is Kareena doesn’t have the ‘oomph’ or that certain ‘animal magnetism’ to act Helen’s part. Ya, Helen and Hema were pleasingly plump in their early roles, but both of them were talented actresses and dancers, pretty, and had sex appeal; qualities which, I’d say, Kareena clearly lacks for a Helen role. In my book a mule gyrating in a barnyard has more ‘oomph’ than Kareena could ever have!

That's a totally fine response to Kareena's being cast in the part! I completely respect someone's not liking someone based on the person's lack of "oomph," or whatever — I'm being sincere. Hell, I utterly aborred Kareena Kapoor — read, I wanted her to be (figuratively) mauled by bears — until she did Dev. Suddenly, she rose to be "more than bearable," and I find that I actually like her now. Had you told me this would be the case immediately upon my having watched Khushi, I'd have slapped you across with face with a nine-iron. Agreed, I don't want to see Don re-made; it's one of my all-time favorite films, especially of Amitabh Bachchan. To me, however, Kareena Kapoor in Helen's part isn't nearly so sinful as Shah Rukh Khan doing "Khaike Paan Banaras Waala." I've actually grown to find Khan a matured, talented actor, but I sure as hell don't want to see him doing an Amitabh-Bachchan role. Given, he isn't trying to play "Vijay Varma" of Deewaar, but I still don't like him anywhere near an originally-Bachchan part. Again, if only they'd forgone the whole "re-make" thing, and just made a "new" action movie. With the genre, you often can't even tell what, precisely, a film's been "inspired by" or "based on," unless you're explicitly told...again and again... :x

Just read Hrithik's intervew in the June issue of Filmfare ..

.. he was the original choice for DON it looks like but couldnt commit to dates but the director also wanted someone more mature and someone that can actually look like a gang leader.

Actually I think Kareena Kapoor is slated to play Helen's part and thus she will be doing that song.

Honest to god, puhleezzz! I can’t stand that fat face Kareena, for a young person she could act mama roles and if you ask me, I’d rather see an older actress with a slim face and figure who looks hot like Tabu, Sushmitra, or Raveena to star as Helen in this film instead of Poo Kareena who can’t act anywayz imo.

Yeah I agree. Kareena Kapoor is one of the few actresses in the history of cinema (all over the world) who I can say I truly HATE. And I'm not using that word loosley, I hate her with a passion! While I don't think she has a fat face, she has a face so broad you can fit a soup bowl on it! Yes, I think she's ugly but I'm more put off by her personality and horrible acting. She's only getting parts because she's from the Kapoor clan. In any film she's in I'm put off seeing the film just because she's in it. I think this hatred started with her role in K3G as Poo. Before that I could just about tolerate her in films like Asoka and Refugee.

I'm VERY disappointed with her being in Don, but then again I'm not happy that this film is being remade, even if it is made by Farhan Akhtar. Do something original Bollywood!

Again, I thought she was annoying as the retard in Khushi, and as the retard in Yaadein...and Mujhse Dosti Karoge; but since about Dev, I've found her to be more than tolerable -- I've found her to be likeable. All this does not, however, change that I feel that Don should not be re-made.

I liked Kareena in CHAMELI and DEV. :) I think she is, much like Aishwarya really, a director's actress. If directed well, she performes well.

I think she's gonna surprise us all in OMKARA. :)
