Yes! At the last minute, Lakshya was added to the Loews State sked. I will definitely be there today.

Which theater in Toronto has the biggest screen for hindi movies? Need not be limited to Woodside and Albion.

Bigger is not necessarily better unless they use 70mm blown up prints which is rarely the case.

Otherwise, I-Max screen at Ontario Place or any other I-max screen (Ontario Science center) are the biggest. 35mm projection, normally doesn't fill up the huge I-max screen, but the projected image is by far bigger than regular 35mm theatres.

Some prefer 'Square One' (Toronto) type THX theatres which have huge screens and excellent sound system.

BTW, if possible, avoid AMC theatres as they don't have Dolby Digital sound and end up playing back-up Dolby surround (unless they ask for and get a DTS print; rarely done). Moreover, many of their screens are only 1.85:1 and not 2.35:1 (image gets cropped from sides).

Saw Lakshya at AMC in Kanata (Ottawa; 300 Km from 401&2 to AMC Kanata via 401, 37, 7). Screen was 2.35:1 and huge, as normal for Big Screen Big Sound theatres. As AMC doesn't have DD, it was presented in SRD, but had excellent loud sound with plenty of bass. As good as it gets.

Lakshya credits showed DTS prints as well. I wish, theatres take time to order matching prints for their theatres. Lakshya audio in DTS in AMC theatres would have been mind blowing.

Another plus point for AMC screening:
Theatre was big enough and could easily have over 400 seats, but as per Multiplex strategy, had only 90 big and very comfortable seats, of which only 4 (us) were occupied. LOL.

Saw Hum Tum at Albion. It was playing in the theatre on the West side.

After a long time, saw more than 50 (may be 70) people in a show at Albion. Lakshya was running in the theatre on the East and had about 200-250 viewers. (Vow, 250 at Albion and just 4 (us) at decent AMC in Kanata; different days, though).

Audio:
In the end credits, didn't see DTS as an option, so the presentation must have been Dolby surround or equiv. Again, after a long time, tghe audio was loud enough and had plenty of Bass. I did feel some surround as well. Not the Dolby Digital or DTS, but better audio than I've heard befor in this theatre.

I can't judge Hum Tum print with MHN as I saw MHN in one of the best theatres and Hum Tum in a desi theatre. MHN projection was excellent. Hum Tum print at Albion was the same usual that I've seen there for other films. I don't know if the same film print will have a better PQ if seen in same theatre where I saw MHN??

Overall, Albion Hum Tum projection was better than other films that I have seen there. Mainly, due to better audio and bass this time around.

Quality issues aside, at least I didn't get any flack for suggesting this film. Every one who went with me, thanked me for suggesting a film that all of them liked. Can't say the same for many other big films.

Haven't graduated to knowing or recognizing Sync Sound.

But, definitely can asses good sound or bad sound.

Moreover, DD film print, played on back-up track as theatre is non-DD, doesn't help.

BTW, for the first time saw one concise list of all theatres that are playing Lakshya in North America. I wish this was the case for other films too.:

Deewar is showing at Square One (THX) in Toronto. Also at Albion and Woodside.

Deewar also playing at AMC in Montreal. (Will they get DTS print??)

Asa Nu Maan Watnan Daa still playing at Square One in its 6th week.

Lakshya still playing at AMC in Kanata till Tuesday 9:00 PM daily.

Saw statistics on Punjabi speaking population in Canada.

http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_ ... dian~House

It's 2.71 Million people in Canada (total Canadian population 32 Million aprox) who identified Punjabi as their mother tongue in Canadian Census.
So, I assume at least 4 Million understand Hindi or Punjabi well and another 1 Million somewhat. Then, Toronto (incl suburbs) and Vancouver (incl suburbs) must have a target audience of over 1 Million each, for Hindi Punjabi films.

In Greater Toronto area, for a population of 3.5 Million, there are at least 200 shows of English films daily (and in good theatres) and only 4 or 5 shows (in poor theatres) of Hindi/ Punjabi films, for a target audience of over 1 Million.

??

OK!! Re PRINT/SOUND!! as I previously DECLARED!! HUM TUM PROJECTION was TERRIBLE!! I go with that!!

I saw MSK on same projection screen...it was WAY BETTER! film was only DD!! surround was just occasional.

HUM TUM...PRINT/SOUND..both TERRIBLE!

ASAMBHAV....PRINT, PAR EXCELLENT!! HINDI CINEMA PROJECTION, SURROUND EFFECTS..occasional....for this kinda film, I was not impressed!..FILM WAS MADE IN DTS ES !! too..hamari kismat..BAD DVD TOO!!

MHN...main stream theatre, print very good, sound ok..occasional surround.

MHN...Main STREAM theatre..THX...Picture same, Sound a bit more detailed!

DVDS...all CRAP!! MSK, is so COLORFUL FILM, MAN!! IT NEEDS an EXCELLENT PQ DVD!!! VIBRANT and LUSH!!

ASAMBHAV..TECHNOVISION, was altogether another class, I have never experienced in hindi film projection before!!

I guess, you mean, it's exceptionally good technically.

A tecnical marvel, then it must be worth a watch in theatre, no matter how bad the film reviews.

Indeed!! rana!! That was the only reason I sat through!! besides SWISS location is EXCELLENT!

CAMERA WORK, disappoints due to excessive use of SPLIT SCREEN effect, that becomes disgusting after a while!! and have been OVER DONE! beaten to DEATH!!

I expected GREATER ACTION SCENES, but no, not at all!! Just regular garden variety action!!

Songs!! Camera work is so JARRY and rapidly moving that u can barely see DANCE!

COLORS/CLARITY is UNSURPASSED!

MSK!! is on the other hand is not to same class!! but camera work is more LIVEABLE!
DANCES r really GRACEFUL, FARAH KHAN has done EXCELLENT JOB!!

ONLY, post interval AKSHAY's song, seems INTRUDED THERE unnecessarily.

MUSIC..Not on par with some other David Dhavan films, but FITS WELL IN THE FILM, as songs are picturized very well!!

Production values are WAY BETTER than previous DD flicks!

Locales, and some song picturization reminds you of HKKN, HDJPK...but whats a big deal now!! Every thing is same!! RECYCLED!
GOOD SITUATIONAL, and some SLAP STICK comedy!! STORY!! DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!

But in the end you will come out of theatre SMILING!

I saw this in TARAN ADARSH's REVIEW who absolutely TRASHED THE FILM otherwise!

"Yes, ASAMBHAV is an apt case of body beautiful, minus soul. The film is one of the slickest products to hit the Indian screens in the recent times, but how about giving us an equally inspiring content?"
