Rahman's 'qawwali' dropped from JODHAA AKBAR
October 30, 2007 2:01:16 PM IST
Abid, Bollywood Trade News Network

It may come as a shock to many that a spectacular 'qawwali' by the maestro, A R Rahman, has been dropped from Ashutosh Gowariker and UTV's republic week release, JODHAA AKBAR.

The traditional 'qawwali', from the movie that features the 'Indian Greek God', Hrithik Roshan and timeless beauty Aishwarya (Rai) Bachchan, had been extravagantly picturised, a while back. The music director of the magnum opus, A R Rahman, informs that it was a mutually agreed decision, as there was no situational demand.

Rahman also has interesting information regarding the above mentioned 'qawwali'. As per the composer, so impressed is Aishwarya Bachchan with the composition that she wants to use it in her next project/movie.

Well, for now we can only wait and watch whether Ashutosh concedes to the demand of the Bachchan 'bahu'!

The Indian version of the CD was released this year. I got it from AnyTamil, but I had a headache about them with my order, so I'd ask someone going to India to get it for you.

While on UTV, their next venture JODHA AKBAR, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, will be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu languages. That’s not all, UTV has plans of releasing the two versions extensively in these two markets. Read on…

UTV’s current plans are to release the magnum opus in 1,000 + screens in the domestic market in the three languages [Hindi, Tamil, Telugu]. “Don’t be surprised if the number of screens touch 1,200,” Suniel Wadhwa, Associate Vice President - India Distribution, UTV informs me. The breakdown [as on this date] is as follows:- Hindi version 750, Telugu version 150 and Tamil version 100 screens. Incidentally, Hrithik Roshan’s previous movies, DHOOM 2 and KRRISH, were also dubbed in Telugu and Tamil languages.

The Telugu trailers of JODHA AKBAR were unleashed during Dassera week [18th October] with ATHIDHI, with 248 trailers [352 screens] across Andhra Pradesh, while the Tamil trailers were released during the Diwali week [9th November] with AZHAGIYA TAMIL MAGAN and VEL.

Hi everyone,

as it seems the two most common questions are in regards to the first television promo and the music launch, let me give you answers to both

1) The music release will be on 18th December
2) The first television promo will break on 9th December

So now i have made it official to all of you :)

Cheers,

Ashutosh Gowariker

And I see "Big Flop" written all across each and every publicity still they have released. That's despite big names Hritik and Aish.
I hope I'm proven wrong for the film makers' sake, like TZP.
