What kind of following does Farhan Akhtar have among Indians in the West? Perhaps Lakshya will do better in Europe/America than in India, even up against Main Hoon Na, which will be a blockbuster all over.

The 'Main Hoon Na' trials
By Our Correspondent ©2004 Bollyvista.com

We told you yesterday that we'd keep you updated on Shah Rukh Khan's first 'Main Hoon Na' trial held on Saturday night at Mumbai's Adlabs. The trial started at around 10:30 p.m. and with an interval was over by 1:20 a.m. Those spotted included Rani Mukherji, Preity Zinta, Karan Johar, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Mehr Jesia Rampal, Namrata Shirodkar, Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Uday Chopra and many more.

Trials will be held at various venues for select invitees this week until the release on Friday. The film has been sold for a whopping 8 crores overseas and 5.5 crores (including print & publicity) in the Mumbai circuit. To qualify as a hit in Mumbai, a film must notch up at least 7 crores! So let's wait and see!

Well, it shows what's more important to Producers. Declaring their movie a Hit or Collecting as much as possible from distributors and getting an 'AVERAGE' status.

They are going for Average Status for Mumbai territory.

For a Rs 20 cr film, selling it for whopping Rs 5.5 cr for Mumbai is unheard of.

Khakee, KMG, KHNH, LOC etc all were sold for between Rs 3.0 cr to Rs 3.75 cr. for the Mumbai territory.

After seeing the trailor and considering ARMAAN BO Performance, now (May 3, 2004) I think, DEV's 10 week net gross will be around Rs 6 cr and not Rs 15 cr as I speculated initially; Armaan was under Rs 6 cr.

RUN being the cheapest of the lot, may have some chance?? Still, it needs a Rs 6 cr to Rs 7 cr net gross to break even. Kismat net gross is aprox Rs 5 cr.
