The movie was more made for Bollywood than any Jawans, taking 'inspiration' from alot of the old Hollywood "buddy" war movies and applying it to an Indian setting with Indian language.

This Friday will see the release of Pritish Nandy´s Chameli, Sanjay Gupta´s Plan and Manisha Koirala´s Paisa Vasool. While its obvious that the Sanjay Dutt starrer Plan will take the best opening, Kareena´s Chameli, will become media favorite and will get the best reviews. Manisha Koirala, Sushmita starrer Paisa Vasool, can go either way.

Ishq Hai Tumse:-
The movie despite having chart topping music failed to achieve a good opening as on the whole it offers very little entertainment value.

Verdict :- The movie will prove to be a loser and if lucky coverage in the interiors, due to its low price.

LoC Kargil :-

Despite having a good opening, LoC Kargil failed to hold on. Its collections began to drop rapidly from the fourth day onwards. After cuts totaling 17 minutes on the second day, J.P. Dutta further cut the movie by another 24 minutes from the sixth day. However, by then it was too late.
Ist Week Collections :-

Bombay - 1,39,56,062 from 29 cinemas ( 13 on F.H.)

Thane - 5,62,821 from 3 cinemas

Ahmedabad-40,88,902 from 11 cinemas

Jamnagar- 3,97,886 from 3 cinemas(1 in matinee)

Rajkot -5,11,688 from 3 cinemas

Pune - 42,79,350 from 8 cinemas

Delhi - 1,31,64,024 from 18 cinemas (1 on F.H.)

Noida- 14,53, 210 from 2 cinemas

Ghaziabad - 8,93,596 from 2 cinemas

Kaushambi - 9,48 , 810 from 2 cinemas

Lucknow - 13,32,363 from 2 cinemas

Allahabad - 5,85,000 from 2 cinemas

Aligarh - 4,55,498 from 2 cinemas

Gurgaon - 15,87,500 from 2 cinemas

Siliguri - 1,61,651

Calcutta - 55,63,872 from 19 cinemas

Nagpur - 9,49,512 from 6 cinemas

Bhopal - 2,27,286 (2 unreceived)

Amravati - 3,08,928

Raipur - 3,39,996 from 2 cinemas

Ujjain - 1,93,000 from 2 cinemas

Jaipur - 3,59,490 Bikaner - 4,06,310

Hyderabad (gross) - 41,55, 041 from 14 cinemas (2 in noon)

Madras - 9,54,070 from 2 cinemas

Ist week collections from reported centers: 6,14,56,877 from 159 prints

Ist week All India Total: 11.90 - 12.0 cr

Verdict :-
Though LoC Kargil will not turn out to be the huge hit that it was expected to be, mainly due to its average price of well over 3 cr per territory. Still, the excellent collections that it has obtained in its first week means that it may touch average to above average status. However, the distributors of LoC Kargil will recover their cost.

Munnabhai M.B.B.S.

Munnabhai is very strong in Bombay, Maharashtra, South and Multiplexes and ordinary elsewhere. However its decent selling price means it will move into the Semi-Hit category by its third week, especially after taking into account its progress in week 3.

IInd Week Collections :-

Bombay-65,90,923 from 18 cinemas (8 on F.H.)

Thane-3,40 , 765
Ahmedabad - 14,59,141 from 8 cinemas
Jamnagar(14 shows) - 1,36,142
Pune- 23,60,867 from 9 cinemas
Delhi - 40,95,513 from 10 cinemas
Ghaziabad- 1,34.029 from 2 cinemas
Kaushambi- 4,18,910
Noida - 8,67,399
Lucknow 5,12,103
Allahabad - 1,10,612
Moradabad - 34 , 836
Gurgaon - 9,26 , 800 from 2 cinemas
Aligarh - 62,871
Nagpur - 2,78 071 from 3 cinemas
Jabalpur - 93,868
Amravati - 1,33 , 107
Bikaner - 1,13,651
Hyderabad(gross) 7,84, 612 from 2 cinemas
Madras - 5,94,345

IInd week Collections from reported centres: 2,14,43,767 from 78 prints

Two weeks All India Total : 10.75 cr

Verdict :-
Given its decent selling price, Munnabhai M.B.B.S. is on way to super hit status in Mumbai, Hit in Delhi -U.P and South, and above average to average in other territories.

Fun2shh :-
The movie loses out in India, just about covers cost in Bombay city.

Kal Ho Naa Ho:-

Even in its 5th week Kal Ho Naa Ho continues to get good collections in Metros and Multiplexes and has also consolidated in a few ´B´ centers.

5th week Collections:-

Bombay - 54 ,02,192 from 18 cinemas(8 on F.H.)

Thane - 3,66,081

Ahmedabad - 7,41, 220 from 9 cinemas (2 unrecd.)

Delhi - 35,25,192 from 11 cinemas

Noida - 4,14,819

Gurgaon - 7,67,700 from 3 cinemas

Calcutta - 18,96,235 from 7 cinemas

Hyderbad (gross) - 10,38,243 from 3 cinemas

Madras (14 shows) - 3,34,233 (1 unrecd.)

5th week Collections from reported centers: 1,87,68,282 from 80 prints

Five weeks All India Total - 28.25 crores

Verdict :-

Kal Ho Naa Ho is a super hit in Mumbai, Hit in Delhi -UP and South, Above Average in Bengal, Average in East Punjab and a loser in Rajasthan and Bihar, which roughly means successful in over 80 % of India, and a blockbuster hit in the overseas. The movie is till running in many parts of India and overseas.

besides racial/nationality based ,kuttapan, I agree with u!! on KHNH,

SRK was irritating, he looked acted GAY esp in first half, under Karan's supervision, KHARBOOZA ko DEKH kar KHARBOOZA RANG PAKDTA HAI

I saw BORDER, I was not happy with CURSING and BIASED portrayal, but I kinda thought, that ending TONE of UNIVERSALITY was GOOD..WAR IS NOT GOOD!!

But to do it in just HUMAN way, not BIASED, EXCESSIVE way, is not possible for ANY DIRECTOR whether he is JP or? if the wana make money!! :baaa: :nopity:

KHNH is not my favourite either, but it's the only film classified as Super Duper Hit (AAA) in at least one territory. And that territory being Overseas. It's Overseas collections, I think, are going to surpass its all other collections combined. Thanks to $ 1 = Rs 50 and 1 UK pound = Rs 75.

http://www.boxofficeindia.com/trade2003.htm

Some interesting Box Office #s:

Kal Ho Na Ho ----AAA (Super Duper Hit) in Overseas

Koi Mil Gaya -----AA (Super Hit) in Bombay

Baghban & Chalte Chalte ------AA (Super Hit) in Overseas

Andaaz------AA (Super Hit) in Bihar

Rana

P.S.
It's like winning a lottery if your film is a Hit in Overseas alone. Thanks to $ 1 = Rs 50 and 1 UK pound = Rs 75.

If movies like LOC and Hero can recover their cost in India, then KHNH deserves all the accolades it gets. At least it isn't embarassingly stupid.
