Bollywood? There was nothing Bollywood about CR! If you compared Casino Royale to a Roger Moore Bond film such as Octopussy, I would've found the comparison to Bollywood more acceptable.

CR is more like and early Sean Connery or Timothy Dalton Bond film - closer to the character from the official books by Ian Fleming. I like the change in style and hope they make the new films like this in the years to come. If you found it "slow and cliched" then you wouldn't like the book. Blame the book, because the filmmakers were trying to be true to the book. CR is regarded by Bond fans to be one of the closest adaptions of book to film (althought ehere are some changes). Sorry to see if you didn't like it, but most of the Bond fans on the message boards on the internet fan sites seem to love it. It is the highest rated Bond film on IMDB at 8/10. I personally think this film saved the franchise after the disappointing Die Another Day.

Just entertainment, but plausible

Yeah, they are made just for entertainment and are all formula-driven. The Pierce Brosnan ones were getting worse as they went on with Die Another Day getting rediculous with the Invisible car! I guess he had his day as Bond. I recently saw the two Timothy Dalton ones and was surprised to actually like them this time around - I hated them as a kid. Apparently Dalton's portrayal (before Craig) was the closest to the Fleming character.

I did like his Afghanistan one especially.

DAD was the biggest Dudd, even bigger than one before that.

I never mind Octipussy and Man with Golden Gun and Moonraker, living daylights kind either

Afghanistan one was the living daylights. Funny seeing Bond dressed as an Afghan. I liked Dalton showing Bond as a cold merciless killer, a bit like Craig in CR. I think the best Bond films were in the 60's (Connery to Lazenby). Roger Moore was OK but made it too comical, almost like a spoof, but they were fun.

The film was so good, I think I have to see it again. I think it must be in my top 5 favourite Bond films.

Come off it, even T.W.I.N.E was slightly better than that, though it has it's moments, I found it quite boring. Brosnan's only great Bond movie was Goldeneye. It's a pity they never surpassed that, as he made a great Bond. He actually wanted to go back to basics and make Bond more dangerous and more complex, but never got the chance as he was dropped after D.A.D. Quentin Tarantino wanted to make Casino Royale but with Pierce Brosnan in the title role. After seeing CR and knowing that Tarantino would've done a much darker film I can't imagine Brosnan in the role of Bond. Imaging the torture scene?

Just yesterday I met someone who thought Die Another Day was the greatest Bond film ever made.

To be fair to it, the first hour was quite good, but it went totally downhill with the sci-fi (body-changing, invisible car) and Halle Berry's Jinx character who I totally hated in the film. When Bond goes Sci-fi, it just doesn't work, it never has...and also American Bond girls are the worst.

This has to be the worst bond movie i've ever seen. This was a stand alone spy movie, much like the second Mission Impossible movie. Craig was a very bad choice to play bond and the entire movie was bad. I don't understand how anyone could have liked this movie. That's just my opinion.

Oh I don't know raj_d this by far is not the worst Bond movie. I rather enjoy this new breed and if this is any indication of the new path, I'm all for it. I'd rate Craig second only to Connery, though I'm partial to Lazenby!. The rest are water washed!. OHMSS has always been my favourite Bond movie! 8)
