Was it Akbar Khan's Tajmahal (starring Aishwarya Rai) that was announced, almost a year ago, for an IMAX??

As per the news link below, Aish has rejected the role and there is no mention of IMAX. Was IMAX announcemrnt for this film or another??

no it was bharat bala's tajmahal, announced in imax, now shelved, music by rehman :baaa:

Why did they shelve IMAX Tajmahal??

IMAX is Canadian. May be IMAX Tajmahal project with Aish can be revived in Canada?? Lots of Canadian grants/ help is available for Canadian movies. Aish has already signed another Canadian film. May be both films can be made at the same time??

Past weekend Indian TV showed an interview of an Indian (origin) student who made an experimental IMAX movie, at a shoestring budget (zero cost, film stock was donated), which is creating ripples here.

Bollywood newcomer joins cast in lead!

One of the closest guarded secrets ever in Bollywood has finally been revealed to fans around the world. Director Akbar Khan has kept his lips sealed over the identity of the leading hero and heroine of his forthcoming movie, based on the legendary tales behind the Taj Mahal.

The cast list already includes the likes of Manisha Koirala, Arbaaz Khan, Kim Sharma and Kabir Bedi. However the lead actress set to make a mark in the role of Mumtaz Mahal is not a leading Bollywood actress, as predicted, but a newcomer called Sonya Jehan. The surname may well sound familiar and fans of Noor Jehan will be glad to hear that Sonya is actually the iconic Asian singer's granddaughter! The London based girl is being joined by model turned actor Zulfikar Sayed, who plays the male lead.

But, Manisha starrer is not IMAX. I was looking forward to IMAX Tajmahal.

yes!!i understand, but akbar khan one is manisha starer, non imax and main lead was a secret!!so just kept the same thread!!

Manish Koirala starrer Taj Mahal shooting is on. Presently being shot in Rajasthan. As per Akbar Khan, the present sequence in Rajasthan will cost around Rs 5 crore. So, it's not a cheap film either.

Surprise is, the lead players are newcomers. Manisha Koirala is only acting as Jahan Ara and not Munmtaz Mahal.

Directed and produced by Akbar Khan, the film titled Taj Mahal is being shot in the fort of Nagaur near here with newcomers Zulfikar and Sonia playing the lead roles.

While actress Manisha Koirala is playing Jahanara, the daughter of Shahjahan, Pooja Batra is cast as Noorjahan in the mega budget film.

Actually Mumtaz was not supposed to be very good looking also her complexion was also supposed to be quite dark and certainly not like the complexion of Sonya Jahan.
