Karan Johar is scared to direct the remake of his father's 1991 hit 'Agneepath', famous for portraying Amitabh Bachchan as the "angry young man".

"I am happy directing films on love, romance and drama. That's what I do best. I don't think I will be good at an action film. So I am not taking the reins of the film in my hand," Karan told us.

He has roped in director Karan Malhotra to helm the movie. Currently, the team is working towards giving final touches to the script, after which they will approach the cast before finally launching the project.

The script has been locked but the cast hasn’t been decided upon yet. Agneepath will be set in the 1990s and will be reworked appropriately,” said Karan Johar, the producer-director who helms Dharma Productions, at the recently concluded Hindustan Times’ Mumbai First Conclave’s Entertainment Debate, ‘Does Size Matter’.
Could Vidya Balan (sitting next to him at the conclave) be part of the film being directed by Karan Malhotra? “It’s too early to comment on the cast. I can tell you that Agneepath will be a remake, not to be confused with a sequel,” clarified Johar, who will soon start work on the third season of his celebrity chat show, Koffee With Karan, for Star World.
The show kicks off towards the end of the year. Johar agreed that it would take that much time to get the show on the floors because “coordinating the guests’ dates is the biggest task behind putting the show together. The combinations have to work out. Once that’s sorted, the show will take off.”
