I'm here for work, and been shopping a bit on the weekend. Checked out a few music/DVD stores, as I've been intrigued for quite a while now as to why my CDs always say "not for sale in Germany, Austria..." Discovered that all the stores in this smaller town I have been visiting have a tiny section devoted to Bollywood films and music. And the poor Germans are getting scammed out of their money. CDs were all retailing for 15 to 18 Euros each, with a heavy focus (as always) on SRK films. DVDs, not so bad, were all in the 10-20 Euros range. And everything seems to largely be manufactured by European companies.
Is this the "reward" Germans for watching Bollywood. I used to feel bad that a CD selling in India for 150 Rupees, retails for $5 US and $8 CAD, but not so bad if you consider it does have to travel around the world and there are economic considerations. But 15 Euros is ridiculous. That's equivalent to approximately $22 CAD or 870 Rupees. Four times the price in India? Ouch!

My recommendation: Don't live in Germany if you have a Bollywood fixation.

Some of the German DVDs are better than the Indian/US/UK versions, though. These are worth a higher price.

Those superior releases are few and far between though. Of the dozens that are available in Germany, I'd say only K3G, Guru and Taal are worth the money.

Rapid Eye Movies must make a fortune considering the prices they charge and the pittance they spend on quality control.

Bollywood does seem to be rather popular in certain European countries. I saw on NDTV how Shah Rukh had alot of European and German female fans at the Berlin film festival premiere of Om Shanti Om. Surprised they could like it, I found it rather mediocre, though much better than Farah Khan's previous effort.
