First of all this is a sengh exclusive

Film: Insaaf
Starring: Vinod Khanna, Dimple Kapidia, Suresh Oberoi, Shakti Kapoor, Dilip Tahil and Vikram Gokhale
Director: Mukul S Anand
Release: June 19th 1987 UpsTo start off with if you haven’t heard of Insaaf is that it’s a very under-rated film. A few Months back, I also had never heard of his film, but once it came to me that it’s a Mukul S Anand film, it must be good. Was I right? Yes, I was. Insaaf is not the normal basic story of a man who has a few problems and tries to face the system, well no, Insaaf tells a story of a young lad who believes in the law, but the law doesn’t believe in him. To live in big city like Mumbai, he has to earn money the hard way, he goes into the world of crime and uses the law as a weapon of escaping, but he story doesn’t end there, the second half takes a huge twist, which will be better if you go and witness this great film yourself. The film is enjoyable, has all the elements to make a good film.
DownsThe problem with Insaaf, which is not a big one, but the first 20-30 mins of the film, is very slow, just after Vinod Khanna leaves his first job to find another. Also in the second half there are sequences that do confuses you and you can lose track of the film, the problem with the second half is that it doesn’t get straight to the point but beats around the bush many times.
Scenes- The Bag Delivery
- Vinod’s Rejection
- Shakti Kapoor Gets Fooled By Vinod
- Vinod Rejects The Smuggling Of Women
- The Coffin Sequence
- Dimple Seduces Vinod
- The Car Bomb Scene
- Climax
PerformancesI have always believed Vinod Khanna is a brilliant actor, in fact this performance was his comeback and in the opening credits it says ‘re-introducing’, as for him comeback this has to be one of his best films as well as one of his best performances, Insaaf wouldn’t of been complete without Vinod Khanna. Dimple Kapidia does well in a dual role, the one in the second half is more of a performer then the one in the second, but she leaves a mark.

Suresh Oberoi is perfect, no one could have done that role of a don, the scenes with Vinod are superb. Dilip Tahil is okay in the small part he has. Shakti Kapoor is annoying in the first half and good in the second. Vikram Gokhale makes a late entry but does wonderful.
MusicThe songs of Insaaf are not songs you can enjoy listing too, but are enjoyable to watch. The religious track ‘Nand Ka Lala’ gives you a bright feel while watching a feel that is based around crime. ‘Humsafar Milta Hai’ is the introduction of Dimple, which just blends in with the feel and story of the film.
DirectionAs always Mukul S Anand doesn’t just make a good film but also puts his heart into making the film, the maker leaves his mark all over the film. This was his last solo-hero film, this film was one of his best also this was the one film made people realise who Mukul S Anand was. Truly this film is worth a watch, also this makes you realise how much of a good actor Vinod Khanna is.
