Dus Kahaniyaan is out today - so which 10 films (or shorts or scenes) has the lovable Sanjay Gupta & his team of 'directors' ripped of ?

I have no idea what they ripped off, but wouldn't be surprised when I hear. I find it funny where the poster and promos described them as "Seven Visionary Directors".

I saw it today. Definitely not for kids. Nothing interesting for adults either. They made as ten stories assuming that audience would like at least some of the stories if not all. I give 2 or less out of 10 for most. May be a 3 or a 4 out of 10 for one or two episodes.

BTW, any consolation was the trailer of "Charlie Wilson's War" (releasing on Dec 21, 2007) that has Om Puri as Gen Zia Ul Haq. From the trailer, it looks like substantial role.

the most stylish of the stories... Rise and Fall with Gupta directing Sanjay Dutt and Sunil Shetty is a direct 10 min copy of the HK film JIANG HU The Triad Zone, with Andy Lau and Jackie Cheung. Very good action, but the movie is nowhere near the original....

Lovedale was good, Rice Plate was amusing, and both Zaahir and Sex on the Beach were unintentionally hillarious!! Rest was garbage, especially the melodramatic Gubbare... still Dia Mirza looked really really HOT in Zaahir!!

I agree, this thing was unintentionally hilarious. The concept behind the film is pretty notable and when you have strong material, an anthology film could work. Alas DUS KAHANIYAAN did not. I think the only short in the bunch that could've been its own feature was the one with Nana Patekar. He gives such a solid, engaging performance that I wanted to see more of it. The problem with many of the shorts was timeframe....you can't really tell a full story within a 10 min. period. That's why many shorts (just tune into Youtube) just run with a concept without a full story. Plus many of these worked as some kind of twisted morality play by having a character die or something and that's how it ends. The Manoj Bajpai one is especially misogynistic, I felt. And the biggest disappointment was the Sanjay Dutt-Suniel Shetty throwdown (couldn't see any of the action through the rain machines). Oh well. Good, interesting attempt but not so good in execution.

US gross:
25 N Dus Khaniyan Eros $176,726 - 55 - $3,213 $176,726 - 1

$3K plus per screen on 55 screens? Not half bad considering.
