Arsh, I SO agree about those "translation voice-overs." I just don't see what the HELL the point it of the whole phenomenon. If the voice-overs are necessary to appeal the "the Indian masses," why the hell even film scenes in English, so later to "dub" them? It's absolutely idiotic.

Asambhav was pretty good; I honestly don't get why it seems to be so commonly loathed.

Indian films are rated either "U," "U/A," or "A."

Just saw MOS - all in all it is an excellent movie. Maybe my expectations were very low - but I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed the movie. I'm not an Ash fan generally - but she was excellent in this movie. She really behaved as I would have imagined Tilo to behave from the book. The atmosphere of the spice shop is exactly as I had pictured it when reading the book. The side stories were all there and they were handled really well. Not sure what the reviewers are on about to be totally honest - I found it to be a well made movie with good performances all round.

Sure there were a lot of things that have been changed from the book - but somehow the essence of the stroy is intact and the way Ash communicates with the spices is handled really well. I did not notice any problems with her delivery of dialogues in English - it was a very natural performance and Ash conveyed a lot with her eyes.

Thank you for your review. :) I think you have a good taste in movies, so I guess MOS is not as bad as others say.

It doesn't seem to be playing anywhere in Canada, nor does it show up in "Forthcoming Releases'" as listed @ Cinemaclock.com.

Most likely, it will make into art circuit cinemas (much higher than Desi Cinemas' Box Office rerurns but less than main stream).

Would like to hear what others think as well (if they get a chance to see it). I enjoyed it but it could have been because my expectations were very low!

Story was interesting and mystical

A different dream like fantasy fable exploring facets of traditions, destiny, desires, assimilation in new environment

Totally way more clever than torture fest JBJ !!
