Mike Tyson to appear in Bollywood video

MUMBAI, India - A diamond heist, a Bollywood dance routine and Mike Tyson make an unlikely combination.

But the former heavyweight boxing champion is set to groove to Indian pop music in a promotional video for "Fool and Final," an upcoming Bollywood comedy, the film's media consultant said Friday.

Tyson, 40, will shoot the promo in India, said N. Chattani, who is in charge of publicity for the movie's producer, Firoze Nadiadwala.

"It's finalized," Chattani said. "Tyson will be shooting the music promo with the entire cast."

Why Tyson? Aside from instant publicity, action hero Sunny Deol stars as a boxer in the film, directed by Ahmed Khan.

"The movie is a laugh riot, and the filmmakers thought Tyson would be great in the promo," Chattani said.

In 1986, a 20-year-old Tyson became the youngest heavyweight boxing champion in history. He was convicted of rape in Indiana in 1992 and pleaded no contest to misdemeanor assault charges in Maryland in 1999.

By 1997, Tyson's career hit a low point when he bit Evander Holyfield's ear during a fight.

Mike Tyson wants to do Bollywood movies

MUMBAI, India - Mike Tyson wants to try something new — acting in Bollywood movies.

Tyson said the energy on the sets of a music video he recently shot for a new comedy got him thinking about trying to do more Bollywood work, The Times of India reported Monday.

The former heavyweight boxing champion said in an interview that Firoz Nadiadwala, producer of "Fool n Final," had approached him with a script.

"Firoz has discussed a movie with me," the newspaper quoted Tyson as saying.

"We seriously intend to work toward it," he said, without disclosing any details.

Tyson, 40, danced to Bollywood music at a two-day shoot in Las Vegas last month for a music video to promote "Fool n Final," about a diamond heist.

"The atmosphere was very congenial, happy and energetic," the newspaper quoted Tyson as saying.

Tyson plays himself in the music video, set for release later this month.

He said Nadiadwala explained the concept of the music video to him earlier this year.

"I was, anyway, in that phase when I didn't mind trying out something different," he said. "The script seemed very interesting, with lots of excitement thrown in."

Tyson said there are similarities between acting and boxing.

"In both the fields, in order to survive and triumph, you need focus and to be highly disciplined and determined," he said.

A judge in Phoenix gave Tyson permission to travel to Las Vegas to shoot the music video. Tyson is facing charges of drug possession and driving under the influence of drugs for an arrest in Scottsdale last year.

Tyson had been expected to travel to India this summer to film the dance sequence, but the scene was shot in Las Vegas due to security reasons, director Ahmed Khan has said.

"Iron Mike" to play boxer in Bollywood film - report

Tuesday June 5, 12:36 PM
MUMBAI (Reuters Life!) - Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has signed up to a second Bollywood film where he would play a boxer after a dance number he did in an earlier movie was a hit with audiences, a newspaper report said on Tuesday.

Titled "Licence to Kill", the action thriller would see the U.S. boxer, Tyson imitate real life, the Mumbai Mirror said.

The former heavyweight champion featured in a promotional music video of newly released Bollywood film "Fool and Final", but the cameo received such a positive response from viewers that the director incorporated the number in the film.

"I had decided to make a film with him later but after the promos featuring him received a great response, I decided to start the film sooner," said producer Firoz Nadiadwala, who produced "Fool and Final".

"Tyson has a huge fan base and I want to tap that," Nadiadwala was quoted as saying.

The daily said Tyson is getting a "huge price" for the new film - which will feature three top actors and be directed by a renowned filmmaker - but did not give any figure.

Known as "Iron Mike" and born in 1966, Tyson became the youngest world heavyweight champion in 1986 but was later banned from fighting for a year and fined $2.85 million after he bit off a part of an opponent's ear during a bout in 1997.

Tyson served three years in an Indiana prison following a 1992 rape conviction and was sentenced in 1999 to a year in prison after pleading no contest to two misdemeanour assault charges in Maryland.

Tyson retired from professional boxing last year, with a 50-6 record that included 44 knockouts.
