Nikhil Advani's Salaam-E-Ishq has managed quite a feat. The worldwide rights of the film have been bought by Eros Multimedia for an enormous amount of Rs.430 million. The theatrical, music and video rights of the film are included. However, the Indian music and video rights are not included.

Produced by Mukesh Talreja and Sunil Manchanda, Salaam-E-Ishq, is directed by Nikhil Advani. The film has six different stories in it. It stars Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Akshaye Khanna, Ayesha Takia, John Abraham, Vidya Balan, Govinda, Shannon Esrechowitz, Sohail Khan and Perizaad Zorabian. It is scheduled for a January 2007 release.

get ready for a pathetic dvd

That's about £5million... bloody hell!

So see Eros, they the largest distributor of Bollywood movies worldwide? They must hold some sort of monopoly right? By spending this ridiculous amount of cash up front, they are free to produce any crappy DVD they see fit, as litterally nobody in the world can challenge them!?

I take it Eros just makes one NTSC DVD and sells that version in every country?

man i really want to see this movie but the only draw back is govinda for me i just cant stand him at all, i find him annoying, at least there are other actors in there so govinda hopefully will not be in the movie a lot, and another plus point about it is that from the previews govinda doesnt look like he will be in his usual ugly embarassing clothes like pink shirt yellow pants, or green shirt, orange pants or somthing like that

Is this a remake of Love, Actually? I saw the trailer yesterday and that's what it reminded me of.

there is some more bad news i got this from indiafm
they said s-e-i is 3hrs and 30min and if it works well then they will add more songs and scene to the movie, in other words they will add it and it will be hrs long so looks like eros will screw this up even more, but really dont want the movie in 2 disc, looks like i will have to wait for a blu ray or hd dvd if i like the movie
but do you think when he will add the songs and scene will it also be for the overseas market and will the scene be in the gora cinemas when he adds it? and i know some other movies also did this but do you know on average how long after the original comes do they add the new stuff in? if its not that long then i will just wait for the extended version

Personally I am glad the film bombed, maybe t will discourage Eros from buying other films. JUst seeing the Eros logo attached to a film makes me cringe.

Eros is making good money because the movie has grossed $1,009,000 in the USA since opening on 1/25/07. Figure from Box Office Mojo . In the UK the movie grossed 579,186.38 USD or 293,975.00 GPD So adding the two figures together. The grand total is $ 1,588,186.38 USD.

From the figures above people in the USA seems to love this movie where as most people in the UK aren't running to the cinema halls to watch this movie.

So Video rights for $5 pounds is a steal deal for Eros since the movie is bringing in good money for them in the Cinema halls internationally. While Domestically the movie may not be doing great (referring to India).

So now the DVD.....

Now I want to ask rana! How these BO numbers whether these are for Bhagam Bhag, Guru, Salaam or Night at museum, represent quality of film, one better over other.

There are CINE GOERS who line up every Friday evening or weekend to watch a movie and they are plentiful to keep companies like ZEROS and incompetents like YRF etc in huge buisness.
