started noticing the promos for this film on tv last wk. I went from never having heard of it to actually looking forward to seeing it. the film seems promising… it looks like a quirky/offbeat comedy/thriller abt a family man(anupam) and a don(boman) tangling over the same plot of land. and its written by jaideep sahni(the same guy who wrote company 8) )

check out the promo

some stills…

didn’t know this was screened at cannes…

'Khosla ka Ghosla' appreciated at Cannes'

"Khosla ka Ghosla" produced by Tandav Film Entertainment Pvt. Ltd was screened at Cannes Film Festival to a full house and a rousing reception. Attended by the media and film personalities from all over the world, the
film received praise as well as business propositions.

"Khosla ka Ghosla" is scripted by Jaideep Sahni (of "Jungle" and "Company" fame) and directed by debutant director and ad film maker Dibakar Banerjee.

Shot in Delhi, "Khosla ka Ghosla" is a film that interlaces a generation gap drama in a typical middleclass Indian home with a land mafia story... The film also boasts of a cast with names like Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Praveen Dabbas, Tara Sharma, Naveen Nischol, Ranvir Shorey and Vinay Pathak.

Giving more credence to the film's script is the role played by Anupam Kher who says the script and the direction are international in quality.

finally caught this yesterday, and this was absolutely terrific. this has to easily be the best film this year!

anupam kher is absolutely stellar in the lead as khosla, the head of a middle class family who becomes entangled w/ local goons over a plot of land. this also features a solid ensemble cast including navin nischol, ranveer shorey, rajendra sethi......

the jaideep sahni script/dialogue is stand out, ingeniously written comedy/drama which seems to be channeling old basu chatterjee classics in the first half, while turning into a bit of a con job/caper comedy in the second half. watch out for the scene where navin has his first meeting w/ boman in the hotel room - it’s the best scene of the film..

the film also features some remarkable cinematography by amitabha singh, and uses real delhi locations

if you have not seen this already, it is a must watch

judging from the screenies I've seen, this is yet another good DVD by UTV. It should be progressive.

This film definately has my two thumbs up and my wife has her two big toes up too. She did watch the film twice in the theater in two days. The first time with her brother and mother and then the next day with me.

Yep, it's 100% Progressive.

Just the way a standard DVD should be. But wait, they claim it to be "High Definition Quality". It's no HD-DVD though.

Thanks for sharing the review Mola ram. hope they release it on dvd soon. have you seen this 80s movie? "Mohan Joshi Hazir ho" ? It was not from basu Chaterjee tho. the plot of this new movie sort of resembles that.

ya great point arabica, khosla is certainly a very mohan joshi-ish type of character, of course there is no court stuff in this film… though khosla does get screwed over by the law

basu chatterjee's kirayadar also had some similar plot lines..

though ya the entire first half of kkg seemed to hark back to those late 70s/early 80’s(back when hindi comedies were actually good) basu chatterjee/kundan shah/sai paranjape/sayeed mirza brand of wry comedies which dealt w/ middle class issues…
