Articulate, down-to-earth and right on the money. This is such a relief and pleasure in comparison to the way Aishwarya Rai is representing the industry. Oy.

To be fair, Aish was in much better form on "Oprah" today (not like her embarrassing ditzy antics on Letterman). It seemed like Oprah was the moron this time around, asking generalizing questions and acting if Aish was the representive of all Indian women (good grief). Sometimes Oprah can be such an insensitive dumbass. Even Aish seemed caught off guard at times.

I don't like Oprah but I'm curious to see this interview.

IMO, you didn't miss much. Aish was only on for about five minutes; the rest of the show was devoted to exploring the lives of women across the world (a very vague and cursory effort).

They began the show with lame clips from Bride and Prejudice and talked about her being an astute businesswoman who rakes in the moolah. Then she was introduced and Oprah began to ask her questions about kissing in movies, arranged marriage, and other superficial stuff about how the West sees India.

Well, I expected no less than complete and utter vapidity from Oprah

Good interview indeed. Fortunately for Amitabh, he didn't end up with an interviewer trying to forcefully initiate questions which exploit stereotypicalities of Indian cinema. This brings me to Aish's interview with Letterman(I missed her Oprah interview), I thought Letterman was being a condescending idiot towards her(and I usually like Letterman). I certainly got a kick out Aish's "Atleast we don't have to make an appointment with our parents to have dinner with them" point. I know for a fact that alot of American's reacted cynically towards her comment here, but aberrantly, it's her simple way of saying a big f*** YOU to Letterman's stupidness.

Good point. I guess what bothered me was her incessant giggling every five seconds. It made her come across as a ditzy model-turned-actress stereotype, and I know she's so much more articulate and intelligent than that. I sort of took it as her trying to play down her brains in order to come across as more accessible to viewers. I don't know. But yes, the majority of the blame should go to Letterman.
