Known as "Kadhal Mannan (Romance King)" , Gemini Ganesan passed away at the age of 84. He was a chemistry professor in Madras Christian college before coming to movies, has won many awards and also honored with Padmashree award in 1971.

His last movie was Adithadi where he acted as himself.

RIP. Never been a big fan of "sambar", used to chuckle every time I saw him on screen !. My fav has to be his role in Avvai Shanmugi.

I know its bad, but could not avoid thinking about Nagesh and Nambiar ( two of my fav actors from yesteryears). Probably the last two left who represent an age in Tamil cinema.

It is indeed sad to hear of his death. He wasn't the dashing hero that Sivaji or MGR was but he was a good solid actor.

He is lot like Mohan of 80s and 90s. While Kamal and Rajini were the stars, Mohan gave more hit than both of them combined. Same goes for Gemini. Since he didnt go with any side of the "Dravida Kazhagam", he never made big impact. Neverthless, he is a good actor. It is very nice to see that TN government honoured his death and gave state government funeral. All ppl attened the funeral including Jayalalitha, Karunanidhi, Kamal and rest of the movie world. Rajini is still missing in action.

P.B. Srinivas was such an integral part of Gemini Ganesan's image that we cannot forget to mention him. Gemini-PBS combo gave some terrific songs, like in Sumaithangi and Nenjam Marapathillai.
