Mani Ratnam hospitalised in Goa

India’s finest director Mani Ratnam was taken to a hospital in Goa following chest pain on the concluding day of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) today (9 Dec).
Mani Sir as he is affectionately called was a jury member at IFFI and he collapsed on stage and was rushed to Appolo hospital with a heart attack. In fact this is his third attack in the last three years for the 49 years old director.

In 2001 during the making of Kannathil Muthamittal he had his first attack on location in Kerala and had to be rushed back to Chennai where he was hospitalised for a month. The second attack happened last year on Howrah Bridge in Kolkata where he was shooting for Yuva.

We at Sify.com wish him a speedy recovery.

I hope Mani Ratnam gets well real soon. Despite the fact that I still haven't seen Yuva/Ayitha Ezhuthu yet, Ratnam is still to my mind one of the three best filmmakers in India.
