Azhagiya Theeye -review

Character artist, villain and producer Prakash Raj needs to be seen in the right perspective. At a time when larger-than-life heroes, glamour girls, lewd dialogues and phoney item numbers are ruling the roost, Prakash Raj is determined to swim against the tide with his new film Azhagiya Theeye.
Along with director Radhamohan, he has tried to bring a savvy freshness to Tamil cinema hitherto unexplored. For this alone, Prakash Raj the producer deserves to be applauded.

On the whole Azhagiya Theeye is good fun while it lasts.

Verdict: Above average

Kazhcha - review

Kazhcha showcases the talents of debutant Blessy, who has blessed Malayalam cinema with a powerful and poignant story. Blessy must be given full credit along with Mammootty in making a film that restores your faith in good cinema. Three Cheers to these daring and bold innovators who have proved that even today meaningful cinema will have an audience.

Verdict: Excellent

Satyam - review

All top heroes in Indian commercial cinema love to play a cop role, a la “Dirty Harry” who fights against the scum-of-earth, mouths bombastic dialogues and finally annihilates the baddies single-handedly. Satyam is Pritviraj’s first attempt at doing a cop role and he has succeeded to a very large extent.

On the whole, if you are looking for wholesome entertainment Satyam will satisfy you.

Verdict: Racy

Natturajavu -review

The jaded formula gets a shot in the arm with Natturajavu. It is a cracker of a movie post-interval as the script races along with a riveting performance by Mohanlal who plays the role of a do-gooder who has to bear the brunt of his evil, no good and villainous late father’s wicked legacy.

If further proof is required that Mohanlal is India’s finest living actor, go ahead and watch Natturajavu.

Verdict: Good

Vettam- review

Priyadarshan’s Vettam is a feel good romp that is great fun in case you are looking for entertainment in the slapstick variety. It is a collage of French Kiss, My Best Friends Wedding, Bellboy and the desi version, Pyaar To Hona Hi Thaa and scenes from the director’s earlier films, but packaged well and is worth a laugh.

Verdict: Entertaining


Manjupole Oru Penkutty - review

Kamal is well-known for making Bollywood style romantic musicals with new stars and has always moved away from the beaten track. His latest film, Manjupole Oru Penkutty is a stunner as it delves into the mind of a young teenage girl who is constantly harassed by her step father who is otherwise a perfect gentleman to others in the family and society.

Verdict: Excellent
