1366 X 768 or 1024 X 1024 or 1280 X 768 pixel plasma displays have been around for over 5 yrs now and any with next res pixel array (like 1600 X 1200 or 1920 X 1080) was not appering for long long time. So whatever we bought was 5 year old technology.

(Actually there were some displays claiming to be 1920 X 1080 pixel, but were really 4 displays with 960 X 540 pixels. Resulting in a Big '+' 4 inches wide top to bottom and left to right)

Finally, Samsung has unveiled a true 1080 P pixel capability plasma display in 70 inch and in 80 inch sizes. It has 1920 X 1080 actual plasma cells in one screen. They had not announced the price when they unveiled these Plasma displays at the 2003 consumer electronics show. Expect upwards of $25,000 US but worth it.

30,000 to 60,000 hrs of life expectancy is being predicted for Plasma cells.

That means, $0.50 c per hour of true Hi Def viewing provided HD signal is avail.

That's why I say, Cinema is still a cheaper medium and is a lot better.
