click for larger view In spite of the tension still prevailing between India and Pakistan, there is happy news on the cultural front. A well-known band of Pak singers has agreed to come to the rescue of an Indian filmmaker. Ali Azmat from Pakistan's Sufi-pop band Junoon is now recording a song for Pooja Bhatt's film 'Paap'. The Bhatt family has the best of relations with Pakistan. Pooja says the song will be converted into a music video for the promotion of her forthcoming directorial debut "Paap'. "The movie has a fire within. It has a really interesting storyline," said Azmat.
This is to recall that the last Pakistani artist, singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, had appeared in the film 'Aur Pyar Ho Gaya'. Ayush and Bobby have directed Junoon's video called 'Garaj Baras'. The film's director Pooja Bhatt, who recently married Channel V VJ Munish Makhija, says that she opted for Ali Azmat, as she desired to have the right kind of music for the film. She added, "It all began with us looking for some music that had its roots in Sufi kind of music. We wanted the music of the film to be different". The film is slated to release in December but the music video will have its run on television channels next week.
