AISH FINALLY KISSED ON SCREEN

Remember those days when Aishwarya Rai was a struggler with stars in her eyes who had walked into Bollywood wearing a Miss World crown and was hoping to make an impact on the big screen which took some doing? Ah, those were the days when Ash refused to kiss her stars on screen. How can I do it on screen, she would moan, I don't know how to handle it, she would groan. But then who knows about the future: in typical Ash style, she would leave the last bit open to speculations.
Both ironically and incidentally, years back she had taken a stance against doing lip-to-lips, with Chandrachur Singh in 'Josh'. But, what the hell? Rules are meant to be broken!
A few months ago Vivek Oberoi (now jokingly referred to as Mr. World!) was at Ash's bedside at Hinduja hospital. Then, it was Ash's turn to reciprocate. Like a true friend, she had been buzzing his cell everyday from the UK to check on him. Before Vivek's mishap, the two were together in Wales for Samir Karnik's 'Kyon Ho Gaya Na', shoots would kick-start only after our two lovebirds ambled in well past noon. It seems on a UK-bound Air India flight, the two were seen cootchie-cooing. And guess what? We hear she even agreed to a lip-to-lip with Oberoi in a song (much to the excitement of the crew including its director Samir Karnik and producer Boney Kapoor).
Apparently, the newcomer director Samir Karnik told her that she would have to kiss her co-star Vivek. Kiss, cut, retake, kiss, cut, retake, kiss, and cut, once again: it went on and on before the director okayed the shot finally.
We had said at the very outset that Ash, while talking about her inability to kiss her co-stars on the big screen had said with characteristic ambiguity: who knows the future? The future about which Ash wasn't sure at all is finally here. It did not happen in the case of Salman Khan and 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'. But it has happened today, with Ash making a statement of professionalism in the forthcoming venture. That too, with Vivek Oberoi. After Aishwarya Rai vowed never to work with ex- flame, Salman Khan again, it was only to be expected for Atul Agnihotri, director of 'Dil Ne Jisse Apna Kaha' to rethink the lead pair. Hence Aishwarya was out and Preity Zinta stepped in. The director, however, discards any claims that the change in cast is due to the Salman-Aishwarya feud and insists that Preity was much suited to the role since they had changed the story from a war film to an intense love story!

Whether or not Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Rai are together off-screen, it certainly seems producers are eager to see them together on-screen. Pritish Nandy's ambitious 'Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam' remake has confirmed Aishwarya in the lead, and though Nandy hasn't confirmed the male lead he affirms that he is still in talks with Vivek. It had also been rumored that the two had been signed for Samarjit Dasgupta's historical love story, which is yet to be titled. On Vivek, Indra Kumar, alongside Ajay Devgan and Bipasha Basu in his forthcoming out and out comedy, has snapped up the budding superstar. Indra Kumar who had delivered four hits in a row ('Dil', 'Beta', 'Raja' and 'Ishq'), followed up his success with three turkeys ('Mann', 'Aashiq' and 'Rishtey'). So with his eighth he has decided to give the director's responsibility to an outsider, who is yet to be confirmed.
