PK Emerges Biggest Hit Of 2014
22 December 2014

PK emerges the biggest hit of the year as it has a super strong hold on Monday with collections set to come in at around 19 crore nett and may be even hit the 20 crore nett mark. The weekend figures suggested a higher lifetime nett total than Kick but the way it has held on Monday means the key all India distributor share will also go higher.

The business has seen a 30% drop at multiplexes from Friday which has a lot to do with lower ticket prices. The business at single screens has not dropped much and is at the level of Friday as they were not huge on Friday.

The film can challenge the opening week record of Dhoom 3 although Monday will be similar to Dhoom 3 and weekend is lower it may make ground over the Christmas period as this is more of a multiplex film and they do better business in Christmas period so gains can be more Dhoom 3 especially on Christmas Day and the day before.

PK Sets All Time First Week Record
26 December 2014

PK has set an all time record with collections of 180 crore nett plus in the first week.
The film has not set first week records in all circuits but it has managed to gross 6-7 crore nett more in Mumbai circuit than Dhoom 3 and that is the main difference.

PK also ha a good lead over Dhoom 3 in West Bengal, Nizam / Andhra and Mysore but in Delhi/UP, Rajasthan, CP Berar, Tamil Nadu / Kerala, Assam and Orissa it is lower than Dhoom 3. The collections of PK and Dhoom 3 were similar in East Punjab while in CI, PK was a bit better.

The film has gone into week two with rock steady collections and no competition and it is the the 8th day figure which will give an idea to where the film can finally land up.

PK grosses 276 Crore Nett In Two Weeks
2 January 2015

PK grossed a record 94.50 crore nett in week two taking its two week business to 276 crore nett. The second week business was around 30 crore nett higher that the previous record holder Dhoom 2. The film fell a little short of 100 crore nett in week two which would have been the sort of club that very few films will join. The film is looking to cross 300 crore nett before the end of the third week.

The second week collections were the highest ever in all circuits of India. The drop in week two was 48% with Delhi/UP and East Punjab showing an even better hold as collections dropped a little over 40%.The collections in Mumbai have crossed 90 crore nett.

The records will be more difficult to come by now. It can get a new third week record which stands at a little over 30 crore nett but it will difficult to beat this record by the margin it achieved the second week record. .

PK Hits 500 Crore Worldwide Heads For 600 Crore
3 January 2015

PK has touched the 500 crore mark worldwide in two weeks making it the second film after Dhoom 3 to cross 500 crore. The film has grossed 368 crore (Gross) in India and 130 crore in Overseas in two weeks.

The film is looking to be the first film to go over 600 crore mark worldwide. It is already the record grosser in India though overseas it has a long way to go catch the $31.5 million total of Dhoom 2. The film has phenomenaly well in US/Canada and Australia but other markets are not so strong especially Gulf where it may not even be the biggest of the year. United Kingdom, Pakistan and Nepal are below record levels.

Still the film should just about make it above 600 crore worldwide as around $26 million in Overseas will be enough and it should reach that at least.

PK Strong In China - Heads For 700 Crore Worldwide
1 June 2015

PK is on a huge run in China and has grossed more in China than in any other Overseas market and is still very strong. More important than going above any other market is that it is on the verge of becoming the highest grossing non local ope English film.

The highest ever is a Russian film Stalingrad which has around $12 million and PK is sure to beat that by the end of business on Monday. The film is also set to cross the 700 crore Worldwide gross mark as it sits on 675 crore after nine days in China.

The daily business over the first nine days for PK in China is as follows. The film opened on 4600 screens.

Day One - $974,000

Day Two - $2,460,000

Day Three - $1,894,000

FIRST WEEKEND - $5,328,000

Day Four - $1,046,000

Day Five - $654,000

Day Six - $845,000

Day Seven - $539,000

FIRST WEEK - $8,412,000

Day Eight - $927,000

Day Nine - $1,530,000

NINE DAY TOTAL - $10,869,000

The drop from the first weekend is likely to be around 35% and a $15 million total in China is certain which will take it over $40 million in Overseas and 700 crore Worldwide The business in China also has chances of going close to $20 million

I thought movie was extremely preachy like the ones anti religion and Aamir role was reminiscent of his idiot self in Dhoom 3 and it was lifted straight from a Hollywood flick
